Sorry About All This Scotland

One recent poll found 71% of people in Scotland have an unfavorable opinion of Trump.

So why is Trump visiting Scotland? After all, it's costing the locals $ Millions to provide security, this is on top of whatever the US is spending on security, on top of the $10M the US is spending on the trip, just so Trump gets to promote his new Golf Club.

The Trump Golf club will charge the US for the cost of housing the Trump security detail and entourage.

Trump initially claimed that the trip will be to discuss trade. A couple of problems with his statement:

1. The trade agreement between the US and UK has already and concluded.

2. The trade "meeting" is the last day, and it's more of a pat on the bank for the agreement that was concluded in May.

Some protesters managed to install a sign under the main club's entrance sign, that looks like it's part of the official sign, except it says something like 'twi resort with the Epstein island'...

MAGA.

While Trump is deeply unpopular in Scotland (and a lot of other places) He does have some support among the Turnbury locals for bringing jobs to the area and seeing to it a few works projects (good for the resort of course) got done.. There is also a well to do group who also dont like those wind farms. So they support him in that..😷

@specman You are wrong on just about every point there. He wasnt self made at all. In fact he has self destructed several times along the way and taken other peoples money with him, leaving a trail of unpaid debts. To the point American banks refused to deal with him and he borrowed from rtussia and still has not paid them back. This is the most profitable time of his life. Either gtetting the government to pay his properties to use them, or using the muscle of the US with his tyrant friends to illicit bribes..😷

@specman
He did not receive his billions by inheritance.

By chance, did you fall off the turnip truck?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Northwest He was pushed, to improve the average..😷

I'm amazed that only 71% of Scots have an unfavourable opinion. He has behaved like a medieval baron in building up his two golf estates, damaging sensitive ecosystems, and disregarding local opinion.

This is another example of him blurring his private interests with his public role. It is nothing more than a business trip/holiday. He tacked on a meeting with Keir Starmer to justify the £5m tag on his security detail that the Scottish government is covering.

Everytime he comes to Scotland he gets triggered by the sight of wind turbines from his golf courses. It would be very funny if someone installed a windmill in Mar a Lago while he's not looking 😅

I particularly like the way the Murdoch media in Scotland (sky) is asking Trump hard questions even at a distance. Questions only Stephen Colbert and Johd Daily ask in America, the land of the free and the home of the scared of the bully..

@whowasthatmaskedman Murdoch is still down on his knees in front of Trump, who took a mid-blow break to sue Murdoch, who third only to Musk and Joe Biden, contributed the most to getting Trump elected.

Problem is that the Trump detail, was playing really loud music in the Golf carts to make sure Trump could not hear the questions.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Northwest I agree. But Murdoch has also switched horses before when the writing was on the wall, to be on the next winners side. Its just not clear who that will be now.. My money is on Vance, Miller and the Heritage Foundation. And that sure would work for Murdoch..😷

Yeah, but his handlers have told him that's how they show love in Scotland. It reminds me of how his handlers told him a Federal Reserve that was completed 5 years ago is just being built now. Then, there was that time they told him he obliterated Iran's nuclear program and eliminated the nuclear threat from North Korea. Oh, those handers. They can literally tell him anything.

I think he’s desperate to get away from his presidency which is beginning to tank.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Bumbles he just wants to take in all the benefits and not deal with the problems.

They just struck a deal 😑

@specman are you really serious? he bought up land and built his course, he did not ask for the approval of his neighbors.

@specman
Liberal news on approval rating? !

MAGA. Unless ir comes from Trump, let's shoot the messemger.

If he made a golf course there they must like him!

So by your logic, he should not have built anything in New York.

@Northwest wishy washy people apparently or liberal statistics.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
the estimated cost to the US citizens for this trip exceeds $10 million USD!
Northwest · M
@samueltyler2 Yes, some of it goes to Trump because his detail and himself, charge the US government for staying at the property.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Northwest so, the point is that the estimated cost is $10 million USD!
