NO DEMOCRATS

Imagine an America with NO DEMOCRATS.

Slavery would have been nipped in the bud at the beginning of our republic.
Native Americans would have been integrated into our population and not put on reservations.
There would have been no civil war
No Jim Crow
No segregation
No Vietnam war
No open border
No huge national debt
Lower health care cost
Better education for our kids
Lower taxes
No gutted inner cities
No guys in women's sports
Newspapers TV would be reporting the news rather than Democrat propaganda.

and the list goes on ...

NO DEMOCRATS, NO DEMOCRATS.

Say it!

FYI:

Also FYI, the parties switched their respective platforms so virtually everything you've listed is coming from people who'd vote Republican now.

@Heartlander Good idea. Plenty of empty space in Siberia if y'all want to move

And the American population isn't on board with this shìt. People are protesting all over the country, not just DC
@Elessar

If crowd sizes are used as measures of nationwide support I guess I should point out that in the 1968 election cycle, George Wallace drew the largest crowds.
Elessar · 31-35, M
@Heartlander lolz one thing is comparing one crowd to another and one thing is comparing it to an empty desert.

Only a matter of time before Elon will spill the beans and we'll have confirmation directly from the source on how this last election was "won".

You'd still have had the slavery problem as that was a southern thing, not a Democrat thing. Same with segregation. That stuff was more split by geography than party. You'd have had just as many wars. Healthcare costs would be lower because most Americans would be in deep poverty and unable to afford care. Most people would probably just die or have to rely on the mercy of churches. Education would be on par with developing nations. Inner cities would make smog-filled slums seem attractive. And you wouldn't need a border patrol because nobody would want to come here anyways.

@ViciDraco Re read your history books .. Democrats supported slavery .. Lincoln was a Republican ..
ViciDraco · 41-45, M
@BrandNewMan I'm quite familiar. Northern democrats tended to be anti-slavery and southern republicans weren't very keen on civil rights. It was a north/south divide not a party line divide. It just happened that democrats were a majority party in the south at the time.

But please, keep oversimplifying history so you can use it to twist your narratives.
BrandNewMan · 61-69, M
@ViciDraco Seems more your line given the preponderance of facts.

There are always exceptions .. but the south was overwhelmingly composed of Democrats, the larger portion than the Northern Democrat faction which was further split pro-war and pro-slavery - so even a meaningful portion of Northern democrats were proslavery. Free states were overwhelmingly Republican led and Republican voters.

For all practical purposes in actual effect .. pretty much as I stated

LOL I do love people who have to objectively understand that Democrats and Republicans have switched their parties in the past 100-150 years, but then go on to post a moronic list like this.

I mean its taking what is a fact and a historical fact, not like some random scientist told them was a fact, but a we have people alive today who lived it fact. Then just deciding its not true.

Its a serious level of cognitive disconnect. Its almost impressive.
@Pherick No they didn’t. Go through the list of signatures on the Soutgern Manifesto and count the names that jumped parties. 95%+ lived out their lives as Democrats, had federal office building named after them. At least one was even awarded the Medal of Freedom.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
You are scared of democracy?
@SunshineGirl

“Scared of democracy” brings up an old memory.

I grew up in the U S segregated south, in the years when the Eisenhower courts were cancelling Democrat laws that prohibited Black Americans from voting. To circumvent Black American’s right to vote Democrats then devised a voter qualification test that had to first be administered and passed for the right to vote. It was a simple 5 or so trick question that had to all be answered correctly before being added to the voter registration.

I remember taking the test when first registering to vote. Before I answered the questions one by one, the person administration the test gave me the answers to make sure I passed, she even admitted they were trick questions designed to keep “Negros” from voting.

I remember asking myself the same question “why are Democrats so afraid of Democracy?” , and the answer was pretty obvious, they were afraid that Black Americans would vote for Eisenhower. Democracy only worked for Democrats if the voters could be counted on to vote Democrat.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Heartlander This was when? 60 or more years ago? You must recognise that this is a world apart from current day politics. The only thing that modern Democrats have with the segregation era party is a name. They returned the first ever black president so clearly they do not hold those same views now.

What alarms me is the title of your post. You may well think that the opposition is ethically and politically deficient, but that is all the more reason to test your ideas on the debating stump and at the polling station. Imagining a polity without an effrctive opposition serms very dark and dystopian to me.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@wildbill83 I don't know why you Americans get so tied up with labels. We know that no modern state can or should emulate the ancient Greek cities. Society and ideas have developed over three millenia. A more modern interpretation of democracy is "government of the people, for the people, by the people", which I don't think many would find objectionable.
