It is corrupt. For all the reasons you've been given here. Trump railed against democrats, claiming a banana republic was being created. Corruption is what creates and defines that type of government. Trump wallows in that type of corruption.
There is nothing innovative about it. There are laws that prohibit these kinds of "gifts". Those laws are to protect us. If you can not understand why, or if you just don't care, well...you just quoted a trump truth social post. Verbatim. And you believe it.
So, not thinking it through and blindly accepting his justification for illegalities makes you no more than a common cultist tool.
Were you one of the people that was all worked up about the biden crime family? With no evidence, certain that biden was trading favors for payments. It didnt happen, but the numbers were what? 5 million? Ten?
This is a four hundred million dollar gift. And Qatar wants stuff. They are meeting trump in days. I bet they get that stuff...

If he accepts it he does so for the country. It will belong to the US. Now whether we use it or not is another matter. There is talk of whether its bugged or not, so what, we don't have to use it. How many of you received a gift that you didn't use or give to someone else.

@jeancolby one he created, and should never have occured.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
@jeancolby someone, a foreign nation here, that was and id a base for terrorists, a $400 million gift and no strings attached?
jeancolby · 31-35, F
@Strictmichael75 That's a drop in the bucket for those people.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
All gifts actually belong to the US, not the person. Even when given to a person. So no issue here, if any of it's TRUE.
iamthe99 · MNew
@nudistsueaz The hoops you MAGATs jump through to deny the obvious: this is a Bribe. Change the word “Trump” to “Biden” and you’ll be changing your excuse soon enough 🤭
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@iamthe99 No hoops at all, just the law. It seems some are really confused by the difference.
ElwoodBlues · M
You left out the part where the US Air Force has to spend about $400 million upgrading the plane's avionics and comm systems to the levels required for Air Force One.
Look, a bribe is a bribe is a bribe, and you know you'd be outraged if any democrat accepted such a "gift."
And the law says tRump doesn't get to keep the "gift."

Gifts From Foreign Governments
The President and all federal officials are restricted by the Constitution, at Article I, Section 9, clause 8, from receiving any "presents" from foreign governments, kings, or princes, without the consent of the Congress. The Congress has consented generally, in the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act, to the acceptance of gifts of "minimal value" from foreign governments offered as souvenirs or marks of courtesy,26 and the acceptance of other gifts when a refusal of the gift may cause "offense or embarrassment" or otherwise harm the foreign relations of the United States.27 A tangible gift of more than minimal value accepted for reasons of protocol or courtesy may not be kept as a personal gift, however, but is considered accepted on behalf of and property of the United States, and in the case of such a gift for the President or the President's family, is handled by the National Archives and Records Administration.28
26. 5 U.S.C. §7342(c)(1)(A). "Minimal value" is pegged to the consumer price index and adjusted every 3 years. In the most recent regulations it is defined as $350 or less. 41 C.F.R. §102- 42.10.
27. 5 U.S.C. §7342(c)(1)(B).
28. 5 U.S.C. §7342(c)(1)(B)(i); note 41 C.F.R. §§102-42-15, 102-42.70.

Understandable
Don't worry, yes, I do know what they mean... I practice them to the best of my ability.
Would you like me to take you through them one by one? (I'll keep it simple)

I thought it was a gift to the defense department a gift to the U.S. Air force to be used by the presidents until Boeing gets their act together and gets the Air Force One built. Once it is decommissioned to goes to the Trump Library. Does not really matter it is an awesome gift. Dems are not used to gifts they are only used to bribes and hush money so the thought of a gift scares them.
iamthe99 · MNew
@houseonfire
Prove it.
And by saying that you’ve also admitted that this plane, if given to Biden or Harris under exactly the same circumstances, would be a bribe in your opinion.
You’re just a MAGA apologist.
When Biden got a gift it was a bribe because he did so many behind the scene deals to enrich the Biden crime family. Ukraine got gifts that were bribes because they had so much on the Biden family they said give us a gift or we spill the Burisma beans
Prove it.

@houseonfire how much do you get paid to spew these nonsense?
The President accepting a jet is perfectly fine ... but I believe the rule states that all gifts legally have to stay with the office, in this case the office of President.
But they're also going to sweep it for hidden microphones and put 500 million dollars worth of Presidential tech in it, to make it Air Force one ready.
Therefore, donating the gift away from America and the office of President would be wrong, as they're basically illegally keeping it, just like crooked Hillary kept the White House good China when she left. Except Hillary's item didn't come with 500 million dollars worth of tech.
Also, Trump in his 2016 time in office, stopped the current Air Force One plane and demanded a bunch of upgrades... which he insistent to pay top dollar to make it so much more expensive, not the Democrats, so he's lying.
If Trump, or Trump's library wants the plane, then it should be donated to those places, not to the President... and it should not have the 500 million of Presidential tech installed as it then would not be Air Force one.
This is very wrong, in multiple ways.

It could be wrong based on your definition of the rules. Creative accounting has opened new ways to conduct business without breaking the law. De-regulation is the name of the game. New ways of doing old things is innovation. This is what made America great.

@sree251 No they're not my definition of the rules, they're the law, and it's not my law, it's the American law that all in America are supposed to follow.
Are you an accountant?
No, stealing 500 million from the American people is not what makes America great...
And no, illegal actions is not what makes America great....
And they're not de-regulation anything, they're just straight breaking the law ... de-regulating is when you change the law first, they aren't even attempting to do that.

It's highly symbolic to me, since I remember when an Arab took a jet from FDR to make him like the removal of Palestinians from Palestine. Now it's the president getting a jet from a shiek. So cool that I'm alone and nobody, not even one of the Americans besides me and Trump are laughing. At you, by the way! So - you just stay darkened and not interested. Busting a gut laughing. Darkness. LolZ!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Roundandroundwego "An Arab took a jet from FDR....?" Someone is visiting from another time line..😷
jeancolby · 31-35, F
Getting a jet is cheap, the up keep, gas etc is the deal killer.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
It's wrong. It's risky. And, it's not constitutional. Both Bondi and the lawyer will literally tell Cry-Baby-trump whatever he fancies to hear, so their counsel is basically worthless. And, the idea that it would only be legal if his library and not the government took possession of it is literally in-your-face laughable. It really is a disgrace that as he is telling "baby girls" of 11-years-old (in his words and ideology) how many dolls and pencils they should have under some kind of bizarre austerity program that soothes and favours his ego, he is reaching out for a gift of a multi-million dollar luxury plane (that most likely will be bugged) to support his lavish lifestyle. What next... is he going to build a 1920's style opulent ballroom in the White House as he cuts healthcare from citizens and denies schoolchildren lunch program food?

Hardcore corruption. Just imagine the outrage if a Democrat did this.

American morality is at issue here. Americans have no issues when it comes to morality which is a personal thing.
That is the entire basis of your argument that this is not bribery.

@sree251 It's going to be hilarious when the plane crashes. With luck, it will avoid crashing in a city.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
You can't imagine all of the ways you can easily sabotage a B747 plane. If the orange traitor takes it he may not take too many flights on it.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
Wow, the U.S.A. is getting a Luxuary Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet from the Qatari royal family as a gift, free of charge. Out of the kindness of their hearts...
I guess the only world class losers, are people that believe this stuff.

@Strictmichael75 They know it's a bribe. They like it because they think they're on the same team as Trump. Like if he gets a bribe, they win, because they get a bribe too.
But like George Carlin used to say, "It's a big club and you ain't in it."

If that jet had nothing wrong with it, the Saudis would keep it for themselves.
Why do you think cars end up being sold in an auction sale instead of on a used car lot? It's because there's usually something wrong with the car, which means never buy a car from an auction site and never accept a jet from a stranger!
