Do you think the death penalty is needed or do you think sentences that last for decades or life is enough punishment?

Sentences that last decades are enough, but in addition to that, the death penalty is more expensive and it really doesn't deter crime.
I'm not completely against the death penalty, it's ok in certain cases, but I'm generally against it.

I feel that the abolition of capital punishment is a sign of growing humanity and civilisation. Not just for the murderer. One has to consider the morality of paying someone to end a human life.

Absolutely necessary

I'm against causing suffering, and prison is suffering. Fines or home arrest for lesser sentences. Optional death penalty for long sentences.

Execution is still a valuable asset in the criminal justice arena. Do the crime and lose your time. In many cases, like the rape and murder of a young mother or a child, the death penalty is not severe enough.

Who benefits from a life of punishment? And what does that cost the taxpayer?

I think they should deliver it faster for certain perpetrators of vile crimes

Public pay per view executions

The death penalty is nothing more than murder, it has no deterrent effect, and it's irreversible when applied to the innocent.

It’s supposed to be a deterrent…
But since we give rapists and murderers sympathy now….
