Why would any American citizens travel to Russia ?

In light of their disturbing practice of framing American tourists for invented "crimes",and sticking them in labor camps to be used as obvious political bargaining chips, why would any American citizens in their right mind risk going to Russia? This is not just a retorichal question;I really want to know!

My parents went there, a very long time ago. I think it was the early 70's. And my father definitely worked for US Army intelligence. We found confirmatory paperwork after he died. THEY weren't arrested. But things were a lot different 50 years ago. Brezhnev was their leader back then.
One of my life goals is to take the trans-Siberian railway, but not until there’s a regime change.

Say hello to the folks in Birobidzhan for me.
@Thinkerbell That is the only polity in the world where Yiddish is an official language. Although the Jewish population these days is something like 4%.
Yeah. On the other hand why would anyone visit here at the moment? Random detentions and refusal of entry based on what you write on social media.

I don't mind visiting Russia despite the mainstream media telling me what to do or not to do. F'em.

Probably not in the moment when Zelesky's troops keeps attacking russian infrastructures and certain targets in cities. Trying to threat Putin's life now.
