I was interested to find out what my Ukrainian friends feel.

I didn't want to ask them because that would taint my example. Instead I looked on their facebook pages. Fortunately my computer was able to translate Ukrainian to English. Without exception the ex pat Ukrainians that I have come to know are rejoicing that Trump thumped Zelensky.

I just met an old coworker from Ukraine. It was right after the peace deal meeting today, so she likely hadn't seen it, as she was just barely getting off work. I told her I'm sorry for the way Ukrainians are being treated. She got this look on her face as if to say, "You have no idea" and agreed. She shared something deeply personal with me, patted me on the elbow (which, knowing her, is her way of hugging) and then walked away with both of us trying not to cry... maybe one of us more than the other.

I hope she'll be okay when she finds out my country just abandoned hers.

In what respect did Trump "thump" Zelensky? A meeting was convened to conclude a mutually acceptable deal. The American side had no appetite for constructive negotiation and resorted to childish insults and lies. The other side emerged with dignity and the sympathy of the international community.

@SunshineGirl According to Biden there was $350 Billion. Care care to explain the discrepancy?

@SunshineGirl Your complete ignorance of the situation in Ukraine is jaw dropping. Had Biden (Blinken was running the show) been in office for 6 more months there would have been nukes flying. The world was that close to nuclear war. A war no one would have won.

@Convivial Did you watch the entire video? I rather doubt it by your response. It is almost an hour long and the spat was initiated by Zelensky.

Trump is still like a bratty five year old that needs his lights punched out but no one is willing to because it would be considered child abuse to do such a thing.

@22Michelle Yawn. I suppose you are unaware of the votes that were held in Eastern Ukraine where the people expressed the desire to join Russia. That was in large part the result of Western Ukraine shelling the east and killing thousands of Ukrainians in the process. The most common expression among the eastern Ukrainians when Putin took military action was "What took you so long". There is so much more to this conflict than the simple minded "Russia Bad" that infests your mind.

@hippyjoe1955 You are assuming a lot of dodgy ingormstion there. As with the seizure of Crimea the votes were held after Russia took control and there's evidence of Russian troops voting. And also many Ukranians who had been driven out weren't there to vote. If there were to be an open vote involving only the inhabitants orior to the Russian invasion then the result could be respected. Has Putin ever offered such a referendum?
I'm now off for a late supper, a glaas of wine and I'm also on a promise so nighty night.

@22Michelle Not dodgy at all. The votes had international supervision. So lets look at things this way. Here in Alberta we have been economically destroyed by Ottawa several times. If Albertans held a vote and said they wanted to leave Canada and join the US. Should the US stand idly by as the rest of Canada bombed Alberta?

Me and you know this. So does the talking heads.

They are still being led around by the deepstaters but pretending they're not the main position holders.
@hippyjoe1955 you should have said ex pat canadians then...sorry...i'm fucking up my point

@beermeplease No these folks came to Canada directly from Ukraine. When I met many of them they could not speak English. They were desperate for work. I gave them jobs they could support their families with and taught some of them to drive vehicles. They are very happy in Canada and have no desire to go back to Ukraine except maybe to visit family they left behind- if said family is still alive.
