Can Trump abolish the US Constitution by executive order?

Mike Pence wrote an essay and tweeted a part of it in response to Trump. It doesn't excuse him from the part he played in all this, but it's certainly interesting to see a fellow traveller suddenly seeing the light. A Damascene moment?

One he defied a court ruling, he has abolished the constitution. He also has defied his oath of office. But i reckon since he didn't put his hand on that bible, that oath is moot, in his head.
By freezing funds and breaking departments, he is castrating congress. Defying court orders does the same for the judiciary. The doj is in his pocket.

I think the trick is not to abolish it, but to use it to establish a monarchy. Yes, that's possible. Republics are mortal.

@Burnley123 The best way to destroy a government is from within. Dismantle all of its infrastructure of departments. Ending the Education system destroys its culture. The customs, Arts, social institutions and other manifestations of human intellectual achievements regarded collectively.

Trump has already crossed enough lines that I would have thought would have been too far for most republicans, yet they are cowards and do nothing about it. For that reason, I have no doubt if Trump asked congress to draft a bill suspending elections due to some made-up crisis (border security for example) the GOP congress would draft it and trump would sign it. The courts could declare it unconstitutional, but if Trump defies the court the only option is violence. The 40% would be okay with it because sticking it to the libs is higher on their priority than the constitution.

This really is a Star Wars plot, and a “dark side@ has certainly infected the GOP.

Sadly they probably would go along with it and those who are not cool with it seem to be taking the "deer in headlights" approach to responding.
