ElwoodBlues Three Viet Nams in a SINGLE YEAR, not spread out over ten years like the actual war!!!
The American involvement with the Vietnam war was spread out over 17 years, not 10 years. The USA first arrived in Vietnam in 1958 and then retreated from Vietnam in 1975 after realizing they could not win the war they'd started against the North Vietnamese. The US military had state of the art military hardware to work with at the time, but the US military itself was completely incompetent at jungle warfare, despite 17 years of intense practice.
The Vietnam war was dubbed "America's War" at the time which meant that no other countries were allowed to participate as ordered by the US government, though many countries like Canada for example, contributed to America's Vietnam war effort by supplying the USA with ammunition and hardware, but no military personnel from the Canadian Forces went to Vietnam.
The only military personnel that fought alongside the US military in Vietnam were mercenaries from all over the world of which 10,000 came from Canada as undocumented volunteers, absolutely none of whom were recognized nor even given credit for their voluntary services to the US military because after all, this was America's war and the USA wanted ALL the credit if it the whole thing succeeded.
Unfortunately, Vietnam proved to be an abject failure and a total embarrassment to the US government despite 58,000 US Service Personnel being lost.
