Trump declares that it would be a CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS if he were to be elected president. Or at least that's what he said in 2016. Roll tape:

[media=https://youtu.be/ebympHHNU5w?t=66]

Trump said that because Clinton might be found guilty of a felony, it would be crazy if she were elected President. It would grind the government to a halt....
He goes on to assert that such a circumstance would make it IMPOSSIBLE for the president to govern.

Well Mr. Trump is not just charged with felony but CONVICTED of felony on 34 counts.

How do the Trump loyalists reconcile the words from his mouth with his current predicament?

My prediction: deafening SILENCE or at best, cries of conspiracy.

Trump loyalists don't reconcile Trump's statements past and present, obviously.

How loyal would it be to do that?
@MistyCee

Hell, according to some of them he's literally god's chosen champion lol
@Pikachu I was trying really hard not to bring up divinity and to minimize the cult-like aspects of Trumpism, because, you know, some don't really believe in the man, as much as they think they can benefit from his "honest" transactional self interest for their own self interest.

Everybody tends to complain about the idiots and the religious zealots, but I think the more significant Trumpists are the ones with money, means, and even education, who see what's going on, and want to profit from it like he does.

Those folks are less likely to be bothered by hypocrisy, of course, being less naive, and maybe even consciously emulating it as they, like Trump, strive to make or keep their money at the expense of others. Personally, I think they're the ugly side of America, but they, the real millionaires, as well as the frustrated millionaires are Americans, and with Citizens United, they're probably the ones more important for the future.
@MistyCee

Good point. There are the MAGA cultists...and then there are the upper class that simply back Trump because they reckon it will benefit them.
But i suppose no one has ever accused the 1% of being ethical.
It's a cult. The cult-leader doesn't have to follow their own rules.
@BohemianBabe

That definitely is one of the qualities of a cult

I really wish I could hear the private discussions and thoughts of all the republican politicians still publicly supporting him. Like how much of a weight around their necks are they feeling this guy is right now. I'm sure their private thoughts are a lot less supportive than their public words
@ViciDraco

It must be stressful.
And yet anything to have Republicans in power and who cares what that means for the country they ostensibly serve.
jehova · 31-35, M
@ViciDraco id ceetainly hope so.
jehova · 31-35, M
Its definitely frightening
@jehova

This is what happens when people make supporting their team their entire identity.
In sports you get football hooligans rioting.
In politics you get otherwise decent people supporting up a felon to run the country.
jehova · 31-35, M
@Pikachu yes in soccer you get riots? In lacrosse we get conferences and in the traditional 'old days' peace talks instead of war. Wtf happened?
exchrist · 31-35
@jehova peace pipes and smoke teepees would certainly be best.

@Thodsis

America worships celebrity and too many people are willing to excuse anything as long as they're hearing want they want to hear.
