Florida's superior Governor DeSantis signs bill sending squatters to JAIL

'Squatter scam' ends in Florida as DeSantis, sheriff tout new crackdown: 'Straight to jail'

[c=BF0000]Squatters rights have been eliminated in the Sunshine State thanks to a bill signed this week Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The new law granting state law enforcement officials the power to remove offenders and increasing penalties for squatters, comes as property owners nationwide complain their homes are being seized by strangers while they have limited options to take back what's rightfully theirs.

"What New York does, what California does, Florida will do the opposite. And so the squatter scam ends today with our legislation," DeSantis told Fox News' Sean Hannity.

We've got people that will be here for seven months of the year, and then they'll go to Michigan or New York or even Canada. You come back after the summer and someone's in your house, and then they just get to stay there for six months. Now in Florida, you call up, you fill out a form, the sheriff comes, and the sheriff kicks him out of your property."

"If we don't have private property rights, we will not have a free society, so it is the bedrock Florida stands by, and we're proud to do it," he continued later.

Martin County, Florida Sheriff William Snyder thinks the law will "absolutely" help alleviate the situation.

While Neo Nazi states like CaliFAGula and SCREW YOURK embrace violent crime and let criminals own the streets, Florida's superior Governor DeSantis is taking out the trash. These animals will go to JAIL if they try this sht in Florida.

Whoever came up with the idiot!c concept of "squatter's rights" has bat guano for brains. In the intelligent RED STATE of Florida (where people who work for a living aren't treated like second class citizens) these animals are on notice. Move into a house you don't own or don't rent, and your sorry ass is going to jail.

And your sorry ass is very lucky. Florida still has the Stand Your Ground law, which means squatting could be seen as a home invasion (which clearly it is.) You animals had better hope your armed escort to jail is a police officer or deputy sheriff. Because Florida's leadership has actually read the Constitution, your ass could be looking down the barrel of a gun.

That's a great idea. DeSantis is a smart man.

It’s real and happens many times daily all over the country. So I suppose you’d skulk away with your tail between your legs and let them takeover. Not surprising Pix. @PicturesOfABetterTomorrow

Was there on a business trip, enjoyed the weather, the beach and Disney when it was wholesome.
Praise the Lord for Ron DeSantis. We need many more people like him. He ain't playing around.

That has has been a problem for many years especially when the economy is bad. People abandon condos

@Patriot96 Actually, that's not how it works. Florida has a large population of people who come down here in the winter (a little after Christmas) and generally move back up north around late April. Their condos are either rented out for the summer or left empty. And those animals try to move in.

Yes! If you move into a house you don't own that is stealing. The thieves should be dragged out and put in jail.
good idea to get the homeless off the street, but jail costs taxpayer money, why not put them on a boat and dump them 30 miles off the coastline?
SlaveEt · 36-40, F
@independentone
Homelessness is a complex problem. Sometimes simplistic solutions are the answer. Killing them off, while simple, is not a good example of an appropriate solution. It is far easier to end up homeless than you think and 99.9% of those people do not deserve a death sentence, just a hand up.
@SlaveEt I agree some of the homeless are people willing to work and have a hard time making enough to live on, but what I have seen is a very large number are just too lazy to work, or druggies/drunks and think panhandling or crime has become their occupation.
For those drunks and criminals, I have no sympathy and want them removed from society. For the mentally ill, commit them and get them the help they need. For the ones who can't earn enough to get a home or apartment, training programs and education will help them more than a handout.

Good for him. Florida is now becoming a test case...a return-to-sanity type of government. Now we can observe how sanity in government actually works. (Just in case any of the crazy a$$ blue state governors at some point want to TRY it.)
Reason10 · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou Florida is the sanest state in the country.
4meAndyou · F
@Reason10 100% agreed!
With abortion on the ballot this November, Florida could flip to the Democrats. Rick Scott barely won last time.
Reason10 · 61-69, M
@LeopoldBloom @LeopoldBloom Is Abortion going to be on the ballot this November? I thought you goose steppers didn't believe in the Democratic process, which is why you whined like stuck pigs when Roe was overturned.
If the whole country supports baby killing even up to the point of birth, why hasn't the DemoNAZIS in Congress along with this Nazi president presented a pro baby killing bill and passed it into law? They've had plenty of Nazi majorities in Congress. 'Splain that, Adolf. In the meantime, here is Hitlary KKKlinton's HERO.
Because nothing says "I am a great leader" like jailing random poor people.

Why do you fetishize a 100 years dead corpse?
@sladejr Again, leave me out of your weird kinks.

@jshm2 @jshm2 Excuse me, cow manure for brains. The trafficking is UNELECTED JOE, who allowed those animals to cross into Texas illegally. All Governor Abbot did was take out the trash. He moved them to a blue state. If he were able to, he would have shipped those animals back across the Rio Grande.

@swirlie @swirlie Would you put a rapist in a tent? How about an armed robber? How about a car jacker?
Squatters are ANIMALS who do not deserve a decent American life if they are going to try to steal that life from someone who EARNED that house. Those ANIMALS belong in PRISON. PERIOD. Governor DeSantis is wildly popular because he is doing the right thing. He is the best governor in the Country.
