Taxes are low, eeather is mild in winter

Reason10 · 61-69, M
You wouldn't like Florida. It's awful. The taxes are low. There are a lot of jobs, which means you'd be under the gun to work. The weather is awful. Hurricanes and tornadoes every week. Mosquitoes the size of eagles. Alligators in every yard.
An education system that is perhaps the best and most challenging system in the country. Blue state kids ALWAYS start out behind.
Stay in your blue state. You'll be a lot happier.

@Reason10 Not big on actual facts are you?

And I don’t need to move—I already live in FL

Oh... it's because "it's where woke goes to die," the Governor wears platform white boots, books are banned, and Republicans try to engineer a bill to pay Cry-Baby-trump's legal bills with taxpayer money. To Death DeSantis' credit... he insisted he would veto such a bill if it came to him and the bill was ultimately withdrawn out of obedience.
Reason10 · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul First of all, you are a LIAR. NO books have been banned in the state of Florida, not at the state legislative level. Try actually READING the laws our legislature has passed, before inflicting your diarrhea of the mouth on everyone here.
To bring your inferior mind up to speed (and you probably wouldn't pass a Florida fourth grade final exam) individual counties are where most decisions are made involving public schools. The legislature passed laws giving PARENTS more say so in the schools. In some counties, parents have gone into some elementary schools and removed GAY FUCKING PORN from the shelves. If you somehow think GAY PORN belongs in public schools, you are a sick fck.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Reason10 Because of the law, some of those same school districts have also banned the Bible, the dictionary, and Bill O'Reilly's books (and he is hopping mad). If you somehow think the dictionary should be removed from the shelves because it defines the words, "gay" and "porn" and you think the Bible should be banned because it describes acts of gay porn, you are one sick pervert.

If parents (like you, I presume) want to ban books from their own kids, then learn how to parent your own kids. Stop trying to parent everyone else like some mindless busybody.

It appears that the local news is always entertaining...
Reason10 · 61-69, M
@KunsanVeteran

So far, Representative Gaetz has not broken any laws. He has been accused, but no evidence of wrongdoing has been brought forward.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/doj-wont-charge-matt-gaetz-with-crimes-sex-trafficking-probe

[c=BF0000]The Justice Department will not pursue charges against Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., after a yearslong probe into sex trafficking allegations.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Gaetz's office confirmed that "the Department of Justice has confirmed to Congressman Gaetz’s attorneys that their investigation has concluded and that he will not be charged with any crimes."[/c]

@independentone A couple of things:
1. Florida is NOT "full of Cubans." The Miami Dade area is where the Cuban population mostly resides.
2. Those are not ILLEGAL aliens. They were INVITED to come here by Jimmy Carter in the late Seventies. Because of his invitation, Castro EMPTIED HIS PRISONS on the Mariel Boatlift. That factor turned Miami from a beautiful tourist destination into a drug trafficking drive by shooting hell hole.

3. There are a lot of Spanish speaking people in Florida, MOSTLY LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. Central Florida has an enormous population of Brazilian, Puerto Rican and Dominican immigrants. A lot of housing developments marketed homesites to Puerto Ricans. Small rural towns like Arcadia have very large Mexican populations, these being made up of migrant workers, many of whom got their citizenship, worked very hard and bought farms of their own. These are all peaceful, law abiding citizens and we're happy to have them.

@Reason10 Old News. He’s once again under the gun.

Try to keep up!
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
Well let’s see…it’s hot and humid af, lots of mosquitoes and gators, hillbillies in the north and violent crime to the south, a governor more interested in petty revenge for the sake of getting votes than doing anything to actually help the voters…what’s not to like?! 😂
Reason10 · 61-69, M
@Zaphod42 FLorida has the best economy and the best schools in the country. We owe this to a series of REPUBLICAN governors (starting with Jeb Bush around the turn of the century). But if you think all those LIES about Florida are true, then STAY AWAY FROM HERE. We have enough idiots from blue states moving here because their homes are shitholes.
Reason10 · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 He is the best governor (a) in the history of Florida and (b) in the entire United States. We didn't want him to run for president against Trump. We wanted him to finish his term, help support a Republican successor and then become president after Trump finished his second term and fixed what Unelected Joe had broken.
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
@Reason10 🤦‍♂️
Maybe some people like high humidity, snakes, gators and bugs.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@NativePortlander1970 I know a lot of slow cook recipes want you to put in chicken soup. Presumably to add chicken taste to the chicken..😷
Reason10 · 61-69, M
@independentone Exactly. I keep telling blue state idiots they would HATE Florida.
Reason10 · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 I think that was address in the first Matrix film.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
No idea. My parents retired there and I hated visiting them because of the heat and humidity.
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.
Reason10 · 61-69, M
@fanuc2013 That's kind of our message here. Come down and vacation. Florida is the best vacation spot in the world. Spend your money. Get a tan and skin cancer. Spend several mortgage payments on the Disney parks and get even more stressed waiting in the long lines, or relax and watch the most beautiful sunsets in the world. And then go back home.
@Reason10 I've been to Florida, the place is a shit-hole of a State filled with Cubans and knuckle dragging white trash.
KunsanVeteran · 61-69, M
…sure ain’t the governor…
Disney World.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@BohemianBoo I love Disney World.
My son loves living in Florida as he is near the beach and water and warm weather. Yes he isn’t a fan of July and august but he reasons the benefits outweigh the costs
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
The water stays liquid all year round..Of course, it tries to drown you. But you cant have everything..😷
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
Beach life is fantastic.
Renaci · 36-40
Bugs, heat, gators, humidity, fascism, will sink once all the ice on the planet melts.
I particularly like that last part.
