Major Victory For Conservatives And America

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Thursday struck down affirmative action programs at
the University of North Carolina and Harvard in a major victory for conservative
ending the systematic consideration of race in the admissions process.

The court ruled that both programs violate the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution
and are therefore unlawful. The vote was 6-3 in the UNC case and 6􀀂-2 in the Harvard case, in
which liberal Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was recused. That means she is unqualified to perform legal duties because of a potential conflict of interest or lack of impartiality.

The decision was hailed by prominent conservatives, who say the Constitution should be
"colorblind," with former President Donald Trump calling the ruling "a great day for America."
The decision was condemned by liberals who argue that affirmative action is a key tool for
remedying historic race discrimination.

It's a landmark ruling,but don't expect it to change the situation in the Ivy Leagues.Theyll just find ways around the ruling and continue to discriminate.

By blue collar I think she means the deplorables, like her hero Hillary calls them. 😂

@PatKirby that's exactly what she means. They love them their idle rich, degenerate, trust funder, guilty whites

@Budwick or preferably a Target'
Universities are responsible for their embracing and complicity with the concept of “equity”. That’s great if you live in a detached realm, but if a student regardless of race has standards lowered under this belief, then next time you’re going in for medical care/ surgery you certainly want to have a medical team who are trained at the highest standards. But that may not be the case.[image deleted]

@soar2newhighs "Yes, we messed up and you're going to die, but be proud of the diversity of your medical team!"
@graphite What are you on about?????

@graphite
Exactly!
SlaveEt · 36-40, F
Finally! Admissions are hard enough without adding unfair requirements applicants have no control over and no way to change. Our history is something to be learned from, not weaponized or used to justify the persecution of a new group of victims!

@SlaveEt Anyone who desires to attend a university has to be mindful of today’s two rulings by SCOTUS regarding education. One opens entry to all aspiring students and , universities probably will have to focus now on academic standings , and not by affirmative action. The other one may well hinder enrollments as any student loans from the Federal government will not be discharged and that will give pause to many who might not be able to handle and repay the loans.

@soar2newhighs
Indeed and Both of which should have always been the case. Get admitted on merit and if you can't find a way to afford something, don't buy it anyway and then expect others to take responsibility for your debts. I'm not sure why anyone ever thought doing otherwise was a good or sustainable idea, lol.

It's quite interesting how in 2003 liberal

"Justice Sandra Day O'Connor was the 'swing' – or deciding – vote in a landmark Supreme Court case over race. While upholding the University of Michigan's affirmative action policies for minority law school applicants, the court majority led by O'Connor offered this caveat: 'We expect that 25 years from now, the use of racial preferences will no longer be necessary to further the interest approved today.' Fast-forward 19 years, and a 6-3 conservative court majority has now blocked colleges and universities from using race as part of the competitive admissions process."*

It succeeded - just not in the way she predicted. Poetic justice has been served up early on a silver platter.

Affirmative action IS race discrimination. Hurts Asians in particular, who are acing it at school, scoring 1500something on their SATs and still getting rejected by "premium" schools. Too successful for their own good, according to Democrats. (Of course, notsobright children of elite Democrats, like Chris Cuomo (Yale) and Chelsea Clinton (Stanford) are still waved on in to these schools)

Not good news- affirmative action can help heal racial division.

EDIT:

So I'm getting laughing emojis from people who claim the opposition is disrespectful towards them, isn't this an irony!

They can easily get around the ruling by asking prospective students whether they prefer barbecue, ranch dressing, or soy sauce. Sources at Harvard faculty were overheard saying...

"what we really want to avoid is too many, um, soy sauce lovers here at Harvard,"

...said Alta Mauro, Harvard's Associate Dean for Inclusion and Belonging.

"They're kind of boring because they study all the time, which is lame. But you need a few of them on campus because sometimes you can pay them to do your homework for you."

'What we really want are more BBQ sauce lovers here at Harvard," said Mauro. "They give our campus a, um, colorful feel. They bring with them a wonderful, um, unique cultural flavor to student life. Unless they're white. White people suck. I hope white people die."

Of course including a freestyle rap battle with other applicants would help a well.

@PatKirby Yes, there's been anti-affirmative action rulings before (the Bakke case in 1978) and here we still are, with affirmative action. The proponents will get around this ruling just like all the others. Full speed ahead for them.
PatKirby · M
@graphite

If I recall correctly affirmative action started off in the 40s with age discrimination of elderly employees (Gray Panthers?). But it was hijacked by the left and morphed into the mendacious circus it is today that they do dubious mental gymnastics to justify.

Now next step. Get rid of Chinese firms

Justice Brown Jackson recused herself - just like an ethical judge is supposed to.

This unlike Thomas and Alito, who claim they have NO conflicts of interest...
Budwick · 70-79, M
@trollslayer
Justice Brown Jackson recused herself
The left would have crucified her had she voted with the majority.
SW-User
@Budwick But she wouldn't have done. And, as she has principles, she did the correct thing and recused herself. With you, she can't win. Had she voted, people such as you would have accused her of partisanship. She didn't vote, so according to you she is "unqualified".
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User
according to you she is "unqualified".
She disqualified herself during her initial appraisal.

First it was Roe and now it's affirmative action. Third time's a charm. I see a bright future ahead!
I’ve seen a number of times where Black students have been afforded/ offered acceptance to many Universities of note and that very likely is/ was based on their academic achievements, not their skin color. Potential leaders in our nation’s future, and I’m good with that.
SW-User
@soar2newhighs Oh you've seen it have you? And you saw the far better qualified White (of course) students who were rejected?
@SW-User These students were featured in news items, ergo I saw them. Not many news items on whites who had the same successes, and I don’t know that those whites who were offered acceptance at Universities were rejected. Do you? If so please cite.
Richard65 · M
White folks benefited from affirmative action for about 500 years.
Caballero · 31-35, M
This is great news.
It’s victory for all students regardless of race who are of the “ class” ( no pun intended) that have the academic credentials to be considered for entrance into a University. And those credentials cross all color lines.
It surprises me that Justice Jackson recused herself, but I guess she had her reasons.
Slade · 56-60, M
@soar2newhighs just from the Harvard part. She dissented with the usual "my people can't do it on their own"
@Slade It would be refreshing to hear her expound on that comment. Her people? Who are “ my people”?
Slade · 56-60, M
@soar2newhighs Thomas retorted her dissent with saying that's what racists do - put us in an inferior box
