Major Victory For Conservatives And America

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Thursday struck down affirmative action programs at
the University of North Carolina and Harvard in a major victory for conservative
ending the systematic consideration of race in the admissions process.

The court ruled that both programs violate the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution
and are therefore unlawful. The vote was 6-3 in the UNC case and 6􀀂-2 in the Harvard case, in
which liberal Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was recused. [b][i] That means she is unqualified to perform legal duties because of a potential conflict of interest or lack of impartiality.[/i][/b]

The decision was hailed by prominent conservatives, who say the Constitution should be
"colorblind," with former President Donald Trump calling the ruling "a great day for America."
The decision was condemned by liberals who argue that affirmative action is a key tool for
remedying historic race discrimination.

It's a landmark ruling,but don't expect it to change the situation in the Ivy Leagues.Theyll just find ways around the ruling and continue to discriminate.

@SW-User No,what the Supreme Court said was that just because you are a certain skin color-no matter what it happens to be-it shouldn't be a factor in determining your admission into a university -for good or bad.Using your logic,and based on the clear patterns of admissions and rejections and were occuring in major universities,it would actually be more accurate to say that those same places decided that they didn't want too many Asian people in their colleges.But as I've stated before,I don't expect much to actually change.The universities will simply adopt better "shell games" and continue to give certain groups and unearned advantage.

@DavidT8899 Ah but you miss the point entirely. Affirmative action was not intended to give "certain groups" an unearned advantage. It was an attempt to acknowledge and address the nation’s history of racism and atone for past racial harms that disproportionately affected descendants of enslaved Black people.

And that is a fact. Perhaps you're fine with that :)
