Florida "don't say gay"

In Florida, can a 3rd grade teacher give a lesson that talks about the marriage between Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd?

Can a 3rd grade teacher give a lesson that talks about the marriage of Elton John and David Furnish?

Seems to me if the law says discussion of sexual orientation is prohibited younger than 3rd grade, it should also include discussion of the heterosexual sexual orientation.

The younger the kid the more obvious the lesson. Most children have a mommy and a daddy. They don't need to know about Uncle Steven and his boyfriend.

@Emjay So you are saying the goal is to discriminate?
@Emjay
They don't need to know about Uncle Steven and his boyfriend.
Why not? Do you think it's too difficult a concept? Somehow salacious?
Emjay · 18-21, F
@Pikachu I don't think you understand simpler lessons for younger kids.
@Emjay

Well i guess i don't understand why you think explaining that there are mommies and mommies or daddies and daddies is not simple enough for kids to learn.
Kids already know there are mommy/daddy relationships. Most of them grew up with that.

So how much simpler can the lesson be if they're learning about relationships?
Like...the goal is to teach them new things, yes?
Emjay · 18-21, F
@Pikachu Uncle Steven puts his penis inside the mouth and rectum of his boyfriend? Hardly information a younger child needs to hear! And are you unfamiliar with the idea of letting kids be kids?
@Emjay

Well...are you telling those same-aged children then daddy puts his penis inside the mouth and vagina and anus of your mommy?
If not then why are you telling them that stuff about Steven?
Gloomy · F
@Emjay You are right better show them some additional footage as well!!
Seeing is better than just hearing.
Emjay · 18-21, F
@Pikachu I'm against ruining the innocence of childhood. You apparently don't care.
Gloomy · F
@Emjay Genuine question
Do you view a relationship between two men in a more sexual way than a relationship between a man and a woman?
@Emjay

Please, i don't want to have a fight. Just a discussion. I don't want children to be robbed of their innocence any more than you do.

Why do you suppose that innocence is preserved by teaching male/female relationships but ruined by teaching about male/male or female/female relationships?
Emjay · 18-21, F
@Gloomy Fine. Go to the nearest primary school and offer to teach grade 2 kids about fellatio. Give a demonstration with a power point presentation. Don't forget to stick your tongue in your cheek for added effect.
@Emjay
Go to the nearest primary school and offer to teach grade 2 kids about fellatio.
You keep bringing up the sexual acts. But that's not what we're talking about, right?
When we talk about teaching kids about male/female relationships we're not talking about mommy giving daddy a blow job or daddy finger banging mommy's g-spot.
So why do you take it to that place when we're talking about same sex couples?
Emjay · 18-21, F
@Pikachu Are you homosexual?
Gloomy · F
@Pikachu For some reasons conservatives keep reducing queer love to something sexual.
@Emjay

I am not but i fail to see how my sexuality would change the nature of this discussion....

@Emjay Wow you must have had some bad sexual experiences. Did no one want you to suck their dick? Sounds like you're bitter about something.
@Gloomy

It's strange, right?
I mean, if we're telling kids that men and women fall in love without talking about sexual acts why is it someone necessary to include sexual acts if we're talking about a man and a man or a woman and a woman falling in love?
I think it speaks far more to their own discomfort if we're being charitable or bigotry if we're not, than it dose to how appropriate it is for a child to hear about it.
Gloomy · F
@Pikachu Oh it is absolutely linked to their discomfort or even hatred and bigottry. Like they are fine with straight disney couples kissing but as soon as same sex couples are brought up they sexualize the whole thing.

@Gloomy Why do you hate straight people?
@sunsporter1649
Why do you hate straight people?
What did they say that justifies that accusation? A quote, please.....
Emjay · 18-21, F
@Gloomy Yes. A male/female relationship can be explained in terms of parenting. Male/male or female/female relationships can only be explained in terms of sexual deviation. Wanting to discuss sexual deviation with young children is a bad idea.
LordShadowfire · 46-50
@Emjay Again, why are you making something sexual out of it?
Emjay · 18-21, F
@LordShadowfire I'm not. I'm protecting children from those that want young kids exposed to sexual deviation. Even a sexual deviant can see that this would be wrong.
LordShadowfire · 46-50
@Emjay NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT SEX BUT YOU!

All we're talking about is explaining to kids that some families have a mommy and daddy, some have two daddies, and some have two mommies. Do you teach second graders about hetero sex?
