I'm just curious and i know the right will be quick to inform me here depending on the answer...

Have there been any losing Democrats who have claimed their elections were stolen, rigged or otherwise unfair or is that just something that Republican candidates have been claiming?

Fairydust · F

Maybe because it’s only democrats that steal elections.

I'm not the right, but didn't they recount Florida when Bush got elected?

@JimboSaturn

Yeah my memory on it is not great but i think the situation was that it came to light that Gore might not have lost and so they reexamined the results but when the conclusion was decided upon, the Democrat conceded.
@MalteseFalconPunch Actually, the final count showed that Bush won by 500 votes.

Kinda. But they mostly didn’t claim fraudulent ballots, dead people voting, threaten election officials, or claim internal conspiracies. Mostly it was the claim that Russian influence swayed the outcome through voter manipulation. The claim is without that interference Trump would have never won. I agree there was Russian interference on social media because I saw it firsthand. I disagree that it changed the outcome because those influenced by the propaganda were probably never going to vote for Clinton anyway.
@trollslayer

Didn't an investigation find that indeed Russia had interfered with the election?
Not that Trump had colluded with them but that Russia had definitely exerted influence over the election results?

I think rather that the claim is Trump was aided by foreign interference, not that he stood no chance without it.

If propaganda doesn't work then why has it been so consistently used as a tool all over the world throughout history and into the modern day?
Surely if it was only influencing people who were already on board with its message then it would serve little purpose.

It’s more an orange thing, rather than Republican or Democrat. If you lean orange, lost elections are more apt to be rigged. 😉
@Adogslife

I might be wrong about this but yea, this seems to be a phenomenon spawned by Trumpty Dumpty and unfortunately latched onto by some Republicans.

Some Democrats did in 2016. The difference is that they didn't go on to storm the Capitol or build an entire political movement based on denying objective reality.
@SunshineGirl

Well hopefully they didn't make a habit of it either. It's a dangerous trend.

Very good question. I have my popcorn 🍿 ready as I wait for the train wreck.
@justanothername

Well if i'm being honest i anticipate less of train wreck and more of an empty station...
justanothername · 51-55, M
@Pikachu or a train crashing into an empty station..,

hillary refused to concede in 2020. obama had to call her and demand that she issue a press release conceding. then the democrats held 4 years of "russian collusion" congressional hearings in revenge.
@SusanInFlorida

But Hilary didn't refuse to concede to Trump in 2016. She called him directly to concede and officially conceded the day after.

There's a world of difference between not making an official statement and making an official statement that the election has been stolen.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@SusanInFlorida No I mean she never refused to concede see Pikachu's response above.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Pikachu Just an example how reading the wrong sources of information can mislead people to believe things that are not true.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
Samuel Tilden.

But who knows who really would have won that election had it been fairly conducted.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
No because democrats aren’t mentally unstable
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@Pikachu just watching American politics is something as a Canadian
