You know, I think I'm going to just offer the holiday greeting I prefer, just like all the fine Christians out there. I think I'm going to with everyone a Sol Invictus or Decemberween.

@Graylight Between the end of November and the first few days of January there are 21 different holidays for different cultures and religions in America. When someone says "happy holidays" they are not "killing Christmas" as trump culters say. They are instead something no Republican can understand..... they are people who are respectful and tolerant of the culture and beliefs of others.

@DeWayfarer Xmas is about family, and when you don't have much family like me (just my kids - nobody else) it feels very hollow. My parents are both gone, my younger sister will never talk to me since I had to take her to court this year over our mum's estate (still not resolved), and my cousins are all religious nutters and have nothing to do with me because I'm not a religious nutter. I haven't had a full-time romantic partner for over 5 yrs.

BTW your situation is mild.
Try 2016 without family and 20 years without a relationship.
