Unfortunately both sides are pushing commercialism instead of giving. The season is about giving, not religion.
Think about this the next time you see any homeless. Unlikely they want to be pushed with religion over a home.

@DeWayfarer Xmas is about family, and when you don't have much family like me (just my kids - nobody else) it feels very hollow. My parents are both gone, my younger sister will never talk to me since I had to take her to court this year over our mum's estate (still not resolved), and my cousins are all religious nutters and have nothing to do with me because I'm not a religious nutter. I haven't had a full-time romantic partner for over 5 yrs.
