@SomeMichGuy It's one of the most fascinating components to the entire thing for me. I can only assume that hating 'the other' out of fear, which he and the machine fed, beat out everything else. I don't think it was as simple as a single issue like abortion. When you see some of the con artist preachers out there, and how they've melded politics and religion through that fear and hate, it's in direct opposition to any bible message they claim to adhere to.
