I might consider John Kasich of Ohio, although he would never get the Republican nomination.
My reason is what he said by way of advice for Joe Biden as Biden began his presidency. He pointed out (correctly, I think) that an awful lot of the anger displayed by many Republicans is due to rural America feeling ignored and powerless. He urged Biden to listen to those voices.
I would hope that Kasich might be someone who could reach disaffected voters and make them believe they have a voice. If so, he might be the person who can help to lessen the anger and heal some of the extreme polarization. (As opposed to Trump, who tries to reach out to those same people by fueling their anger.) And this might help to end the crazy conspiracy theories that are driven by hate, like Hilary Clinton supposedly running a pedophile ring at a pizza parlor.

@DrWatson I have many family members who live in "rural America" and I think that statement is 100% spot-on. Many of the issues that urban or suburban voters deal with simply do not apply to them. They simply have a different world view. Right now they are all freaking out about "drag queen story time". To them this is something new - they have never met, seen, or know anything about drag queens. They also have no problem banning all abortions because they have never met anyone that ever medically needed one. Price of gas is much more important than the quality of education.

@SW-User You know, she is far right in many of her political positions. BUT - she does seem like she sees the importance of working together that I feel that if she were president she would be much more moderate.

Hubert Humphrey. Granted he’s dead but there’s little difference between that and the brain dead incumbent we have.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@redredred I saw him in-person, once.
A few years after losing to Nixon in the presidential race, he ran for the US Senate, an office he held before he became Johnson's VP.

@ProfessorPlum77 As a child I passed right by Nixon during the 1960 campaign in a hotel lobby. I was 10 years-old and I knew who he was but I just ignored his phony smile. I was on my way to breakfast.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@redredred Wow!!
independentone · M
Until either party starts running moderate canidates and runs people in their 40s or 50, I I'm through voting. I can no longer support the extremists views and lack of compromise from both parties.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Agreed. Also the candidate must be in her or his fifties. @independentone
I really like Kasich, and while Romney didn't do it for me as opposed to Obama, probably could vote for him, although I'd have to look really hard at his Trump sympathies.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Does Romney actually have a single conviction about anything besides he’s now an old coot. @MistyCee
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
I am sad to say, I have no one that I would WANT to vote for, on either side.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@NewRaven sad isn't it?
NewRaven · 51-55, F
@samueltyler2 yes it is.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@samueltyler2 Understood! It's been awhile since there was someone on my ballot that I actually felt excited to vote for.
scrood · 31-35
NEVER ever vote for Demonrats -- unless you died in 1990 then keep voting blue!!!
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
I would vote for Tulsi Gabbard but she has left the democrat party.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
So what? Let’s vote for her anyways. @fanuc2013
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Tulsi Gabbard
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@jackjjackson i think she is no longer a democrat.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
She’s run as a democrat. @trollslayer
Docdon23 · M
I am a democrat. I agree about Romney--do not always agree with him but he has class and dignity. I also like John Kakich (spelling?), from Ohio I think, reasonable moderate person.
ElwoodBlues · M
I'm a progressive, and I'd be able to support Phil Scott, republican governor of Vermont.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
You’re getting open minded EB 😂 @ElwoodBlues
ElwoodBlues · M
@jackjjackson I've always been open minded. I'm pro-choice (up to the point where the fetus is viable outside the womb) and I'm pro-environment (the science says global warming is real). Other than those positions, I'm open to negotiation.
How about you??
How about you??
There is only one semi functional party in the US. The other "party" is destroyed.

I can't think of anyone right now in the republiklan part I would ever cast a vote for and why would I? They've proven themselves to be a party of criminals, liars, miscreants, hipocrates, and imbeciles
BohemianBabe · M
I would certainly consider Mitt Romney.
I used to say that the only way I would vote Republican was if Mitt Romney ran against Tulsi Gabbard. But now that the only Fascist in the DNC joined the rest of the Fascists in the GOP, that's no longer an option.
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
Would depend on who is running and if my political views and morales align with that person running. Don't care which party they represent
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
I would consider DATING Tulsi Gabbard! Plus, I like some of the things she has said and done!
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
I'd consider most anyone not a shill for Wall Street.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
GOP candidate -- none that I've ever heard of.
SW-User
I will never vote for a Republican of any stripe, MAGA/GQP, Goldwater, Reagan, McCain, Romney or otherwise
I will never vote for any right-wing party ever (including the Libertarian Party)
The closest I will ever come to that is voting for a centrist Democrat (which is Republican Lite)

Last Presidential election was only election I did not vote in in my entire life. From local to national elections. Honestly? I'm not sure if I am ready to start again given who both parties want to prop up.
