I might consider John Kasich of Ohio, although he would never get the Republican nomination.
My reason is what he said by way of advice for Joe Biden as Biden began his presidency. He pointed out (correctly, I think) that an awful lot of the anger displayed by many Republicans is due to rural America feeling ignored and powerless. He urged Biden to listen to those voices.
I would hope that Kasich might be someone who could reach disaffected voters and make them believe they have a voice. If so, he might be the person who can help to lessen the anger and heal some of the extreme polarization. (As opposed to Trump, who tries to reach out to those same people by fueling their anger.) And this might help to end the crazy conspiracy theories that are driven by hate, like Hilary Clinton supposedly running a pedophile ring at a pizza parlor.

@DrWatson I have many family members who live in "rural America" and I think that statement is 100% spot-on. Many of the issues that urban or suburban voters deal with simply do not apply to them. They simply have a different world view. Right now they are all freaking out about "drag queen story time". To them this is something new - they have never met, seen, or know anything about drag queens. They also have no problem banning all abortions because they have never met anyone that ever medically needed one. Price of gas is much more important than the quality of education.
