DOJ considering special counsel to investigate Trump
"Attorney General Merrick Garland is considering naming a special prosecutor to investigate Donald Trump as to insulate the Department of Justice as the former president makes an expected 2024 comeback attempt.
CNN's Erin Burnett on Thursday noted that Kellyanne Conway said we should expect Trump to "announce soon" a third White House campaign.
"These are conversations they are having behind the scenes because, obviously, the possibility that the former president announces his candidacy for office again is real and is coming most likely after the election," Perez reported.
"And so one of the issues for the Justice Department is the prospect of having a department that answers to Tump's potential rival in 2024 doing an investigation of a sitting candidate, an ongoing candidate," he explained.
"And so, one of the ideas is, does a special counsel insulate the department from political criticism," he explained."
Well of course they are. All of their over-the-top political bias and expenditures on "investigations" that lead to televised kangaroo courts because they couldn't walk into a court of law where Trump's constitutional rights are protected and present any of the nonsense the believe they have. If they do pull another stunt like that I think that the new congress will pull their funding and ask the administration, why are they worried about Trump when 5 million new illegals are roaming free in the US and fentanyl is flooding across the nonexistent border, and important materials and supplies are being withheld from the American people and kept floating in the ocean in cargo containers instead of being off loaded and sent to markets. They will likely want to know why they are punishing Americans instead of serving them. Merrick Garland can be impeached. Aren't we all glad that sniveling wimp isn't on the supreme court like Obama wanted? Who else sends jack booted thugs with automatic weapons to arrest people for praying in an abortion clinic?
What can they possibly investigate more than they already have??? They've been going over his whole life since birth with a fine-tooth comb for 6 years now, and found nothing! How many people in the world could stand for that kind of scrutiny and come out clean? The alphabet agencies are as filthy as the rest of the swamp, and we need to get rid of all of them.

I thought I had stumbled across an old post from 2015. Give it a rest already! No has been investigated more with less found than Trump. And, they find nothing! Maybe trump should be considered for Sainthood!

@sunsporter1649 makes you wonder why the Republicans didn’t call the only witness. Why wouldn’t they get the third person in the room to testify? It seems to me a Blasi was lying she wouldn’t of said there’s a third person in the room. And all Republicans have to do is say OK let’s get that third person to testify. But the Republicans refused to call the only witness. You know why and so do I

@graphite The Democrats and many others never thought an “ outsider”, a businessman would get elected and not go on bended knee capitulating to the “ swamp” comprised from both parties. Totally fucking unacceptable! They’re still miffed, and I think k many fear his return to the Presidency.
Seems to me like there's a need to change the law. Surely all people standing for election to public roles should be subject to investigation of their background and all their secrets. No one should be able to stand unless they can be proven innocent of all forms of malpractice. Because the potential for misusing power is so much greater, any person elected to public office has a far greater responsibility than we ordinary folk. Good character is essential.
@Ryderbike I don't worship any version of anything. I'm an atheist. I'm also what Americans would call a "liberal", meaning I favour the mid-left side of democratic social welfare and transition towards an ecologically sustainable green economy. I have always thought Trump was a buffoon and hope, for the sake of the planet, that he doesn't get re-elected.
@soar2newhighs Inflation is up all over the world as a result of the lockdowns ending. It had nothing to do with Biden or any other leader in any country. Crime is worse in red states because while neither party is good on crime, the Republicans are worse. I agree with requiring vaccinations for viruses, which is something we always did. Nobody had a problem with it until covid because the Right politicized it.
