DOJ considering special counsel to investigate Trump
"Attorney General Merrick Garland is considering naming a special prosecutor to investigate Donald Trump as to insulate the Department of Justice as the former president makes an expected 2024 comeback attempt.
CNN's Erin Burnett on Thursday noted that Kellyanne Conway said we should expect Trump to "announce soon" a third White House campaign.
"These are conversations they are having behind the scenes because, obviously, the possibility that the former president announces his candidacy for office again is real and is coming most likely after the election," Perez reported.
"And so one of the issues for the Justice Department is the prospect of having a department that answers to Tump's potential rival in 2024 doing an investigation of a sitting candidate, an ongoing candidate," he explained.
"And so, one of the ideas is, does a special counsel insulate the department from political criticism," he explained."

@BohemianBabe I think you’ll find the “ deep state” perhaps with the exception of some, are democrats. Can you then explain why Steve Bannon was jailed?
@soar2newhighs First of all, there are exceptions to the rule. Secondly, Bannon should get life in jail. The fact that he got such a light sentence is another examples of capitalist classism. It's like Bill Cosby serving three years for drugging and raping someone. Finally, I'm using "Deep State" in the original use of the term, which means the rich and powerful people who control the government, either through direct action or funding politicians. This means elected officials in both parties are part of the Deep State. The Democrats are much better than the Republicans, but they also get away with breaking laws,

Now as for Bannon: He defied a subpoena. He went to jail for that. And let me remind you, there are any number of politicians who did the same, and I cite Eric Holder and Lois Lerner. We’re they jailed? And I really can’t help you with your views on capitalism. That’s an issue you have to grapple with.

So the reason I don't agree with that is because America literally always does better under Democrats. If the people in charge didn't matter, there'd be no different there. It's really as simple as this: Rich and corrupt donors fun politicians in both parties. The Republicans do whatever they want. The Democrats try to compromise between what the donors want and what's best for the country. There is no shadowy Illuminati controlling both parties.

Like I said, there are exceptions to the rule. But Bannon's sentence was also too light considering all the other crimes his committed.

@BohemianBabe I disagree on your contentions. But look on the bright side. At least you can express your views. You e er think that might be curtailed? Got a credit card, got debt on it? If so, your interest rates are likely to go up. Do you own a vehicle? Are you ok with the price of gas? The price of goods and other items that have increased too? You live in an area where crime might be on the rise, if not already rampant? If you’re employed, we’re you threatened with termination if you chose not to be vaccinated? If you answered yes to any of these, thank the current man in the WH who has no clue and the many democrats in lockstep with their ( the cabal’s) insane policies.
@soar2newhighs Inflation is up all over the world as a result of the lockdowns ending. It had nothing to do with Biden or any other leader in any country. Crime is worse in red states because while neither party is good on crime, the Republicans are worse. I agree with requiring vaccinations for viruses, which is something we always did. Nobody had a problem with it until covid because the Right politicized it.
