DOJ considering special counsel to investigate Trump

"Attorney General Merrick Garland is considering naming a special prosecutor to investigate Donald Trump as to insulate the Department of Justice as the former president makes an expected 2024 comeback attempt.

CNN's Erin Burnett on Thursday noted that Kellyanne Conway said we should expect Trump to "announce soon" a third White House campaign.

Burnett interviewed CNN senior justice correspondent Evan Perez.

"These are conversations they are having behind the scenes because, obviously, the possibility that the former president announces his candidacy for office again is real and is coming most likely after the election," Perez reported.

"And so one of the issues for the Justice Department is the prospect of having a department that answers to Tump's potential rival in 2024 doing an investigation of a sitting candidate, an ongoing candidate," he explained.

"And so, one of the ideas is, does a special counsel insulate the department from political criticism," he explained."

@Kwek00 Democrats blatantly politicize US public service agencies, using them as weapons against political rivals and Democrats are OK with this. Where's the arrest and prosecution of the Supreme Court leaker? Several months later and zip, nada, nothing. It's plain to see - you can commit all the crimes you want and fear no prosecution if you're a Democrat.

I also remember an investigation into the 2016 elections, just because the last guy had such a big ego that he couldn't get over the fact that he lost the popular vote. And you have MistyCees' post from a while ago that talked about how the last president put Bill Barr in charge to make sure that the public will never know what really happened between his election-team and the russians (https://similarworlds.com/politics/4498921-What-kills-me-is-as-a-taxpayer-Im-paying-the-bill). ... So yeah, I don't think that if you support the republican party like you do that you have ANY reason to be upset, because you are just being a hypocrit.

@Kwek00 So where's the arrest and prosecution of the Supreme Court leaker? The most egregious Supreme Court leak in US history, with only a small group of people as possible suspects. Yet, no prosecution, no arrest, nothing. And we all know why - because the Democrat operative who did it knows he/she has nothing to fear as prosecution.

@graphite The cases I just named are things that really happened Graphite. You can look up John Durhams' investigation. You can look up the 2016 order to look into the elections just to satisfy ones' man ego. And you can look at all the stuff that went around druing the Muller investigation and Bill Bars' appointment.

But you have nothing but a suspicion that you hold for granted. And why is that Graphite? Because you are a partisan hack. Just a tool that gets educated by an oligarchical group to think what serves them best.
