As Dems Go All In On Climate Change, Literally 1 Percent Of Americans Call It Top Concern

In a New York Times/Sienna College Research Institute poll this month, only 1 percent of participants said that the most important problem facing the country today is climate change. Twenty percent of those polled, the highest percentage, said that the economy (including jobs and the stock market) was the greatest problem, and 15 percent said that inflation and the cost of living were their greatest concern.

Republicans were the demographic most likely to name the economy as their top priority, at 29 percent, with Hispanics right behind them at 28 percent. In comparison, exactly 0 percent of Hispanics said that climate change was at the top of their list of pressing problems. These numbers grow in significance when you consider that major heat waves had just struck much of the country around the time the poll was conducted.

Ten days after finishing the poll, The New York Times commented on these numbers, displaying some confusion at such low numbers of the public’s concern for an issue they describe as widespread and catastrophic. “Even among voters under 30, the group thought to be most energized by the issue,” the Times reported, “that figure was 3 percent.”

Their only explanation was that people are distracted from significant issues like climate change by the daily economic issues that eat into their pocketbooks. The Times quoted former Republican Rep. Carlos Curbelo from South Florida, saying, “In healthier economic times, it’s easier to focus on issues like this [climate change]. Once people get desperate, all that goes out the window.”

Despite spending the entire first half of the article outlining a supposed “climate crisis” occurring throughout the country, the Times quoted Curbelo noting that these crises are not things that “most people” face every day, while issues like inflation are readily apparent to anyone who pulls up to the gas pump.

It's almost as if people ain't buyin the climate change claptrap!

Climate change will cause a big fuss as states start to run out of water and people are dying due to excessive heat/hot days. THEN and only THEN people will take it REALLY seriously but the problem then will be everyone saying...we didnt know... LoL no one said anyting about it....

This planet is going to do its thing weather we(humans) like it or not....sooo just make sure you take care of what you can cuz most dont listen until its too late
Budwick · 70-79, M
@black4white
This planet is **NOT** built to sustain 7+ billion people

Again, what does the manual say about number of people?
I'm guessing you don't know.
Are you in the Bill Gates club?

@Budwick ok brilliant one....moving on

Most people see through the anthropogenic climate change is BS. Only the most brainwashed believe this nonsense. Just like every time democrats squeal gleefully that they've got Trump, the 40 something doomsday predictions by "climate experts" never materialize. Doubling down on stupid, the leftists want people to believe they can cool the earth solution by taxing the crap out of people.

@BizSuitStacy Troll.

It sure is getting old. And the longer we are exposed to hypocrisy of the billionaire elites who are promoting it, the more we see we are being played.
Nobody cares about climate change or abortions..
Dems leading up to midterms..
‘Yo climate change and killing babies yo’!

Vote for us.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Democrats: "You can't drive your car, can't eat what you want, can't have freedom of worship or speech, can't have due process and you certainly can't own a firearm. But you can have all the abortions you want! We'll even pay for them! Long live liberty! Vote for us!"

They are kinda quite about China increasing coal production.
justanothername · 51-55, M
Climate change is very real and it’s not going away. It starts with a gradual rise in sea temperature aka .5 degrees rise per year and the impact spreads from there.

Summers get hotter and more intense
Summer storms, hurricanes, cyclones increase in ferocity and frequency as they feed off warmer oceans.
More hurricanes and cyclones cause more damage which results in more government assistance and insurance claims.

More heat and droughts affects food crops and drys up rivers which affects food prices and logistics. Boats can’t transport on dry rivers.

The list goes on.

Climate change is very real and it’s not going away.

Did you know that Cleveland Ohio was in a tropical zone at one time?
It was also underwater for a while.

Climate change has been happening since climate began.
No amount of taxation will stop it.
Swoop62 · M
At this point the cure is way worse than the alternative. We go at this like the Dems want and we won't have to worry about climate change destroying us, that will already be done.
PatKirby · M
@Swoop62

I figure eventually there would be a transitionary phase down the road for a period of time to lessen the blow. But these unreasonable leftist weirdos demand going straight to the end phase finished product which has caused so much instability.
Swoop62 · M
@PatKirby Exactly right as about 80% of the electricity is made from fossil fuels so we do the math and we are not close to their end game.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Its 3%, not 1%

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/10/17/upshot/times-siena-poll-likely-voters-crosstabs.html

In addition, there are about twenty different options to pick from. Given that range, climate change was given an average priority by likely US voters.

This was so so easy to crosscheck. It's really irresponsible and disingenuous to copy and paste these fake news articles that just lie and don't even have the most basic of journalistic standards. Tell a section of people what they want to hear and sit back and laugh while they re-post your BS.

It's pathetic.

All the democrat commercials around here are pushing that they will save abortion...in a state where abortion is already legal....lol
joe438 · 61-69, M
@Tminus6453 they’re doing that in Massachusetts where it will never be made illegal. They really do think the public is colossally stupid.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
My thought was always worry about the things you can do something about and not to worry about the things you can't

https://environment.yale.edu/news/article/public-concern-about-climate-change-remains-at-record-highs

From yale.edu, 2020

"Americans are increasingly convinced that global warming is a serious threat, even in the midst of these other crises.”

"For example, Americans’ understanding that climate change is happening has tied the prior all-time high (73 percent) while only 10 percent of Americans believe global warming is not happening. Likewise, public understanding that global warming is human caused has also matched the all-time high (62 percent)."

CBS News, Jan. 25 2019:

"About 72 percent of Americans now say that climate change is important to them, an increase of 9 percentage points since last March, and a 16-point increase since March 2015."

@Budwick https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2022/04/22/for-earth-day-key-facts-about-americans-views-of-climate-change-and-renewable-energy/

Pew Research, April 22, 2022:

"About four-in-ten U.S. adults (42%) say that dealing with climate change should be a top priority for President Joe Biden and Congress to address this year, according to a Center survey conducted in January 2022. While fewer Americans rate dealing with climate change as a top priority than say the same about the other 17 issues in the survey, Democrats and those under age 30 are more likely than other Americans to view it as a top priority."
Budwick · 70-79, M
@badminton
according to a Center survey

Oooo! A Center survey - their survey's are the best and MOST reliable!
I heard you can get any opinion you want from these people for the right cash and in as little as three days!
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@Budwick Heard from who? If you want to say Pew Research is unreliable, you have to offer evidence, documented proof. Otherwise, it's just so much hot air.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
These issues are not mutually exclusive. Had people and governments been more concerned about climate change over the past decade and used this as an opportunity to diversify energy supplies, the current inflationary pressures on oil and gas would be less severe.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SunshineGirl
Had people and governments been more concerned about climate change

I don't know Sunshine - the climate change folks have simply not brought a believable, consistent message. Further, their alternatives to fossil fuels don't exist.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SunshineGirl Indeed. Its impossible to understand climate change, the economy and inflation as separate issues.

They are listed as separate issues in the poll that he mentions and (mis)quoted.
