I don't understand how an American woman in particular can calle themselves conservative or Republican. Your party openly states and proves on an

almost daily basis to them you are literally a baby factory and have no other value to them

Ah, yes...

Nothing like the good old Soviet days when the woman of the proletariat pulled an oxen yoke equally with the man, eh, Picsie? 🙄

@LeopoldBloom Tink is too dense to realize they support creating a black market for people like that.

@LeopoldBloom

"What makes you think I support Gosnell?"

What made you think I support forcing women to give birth to hopelessly deformed, unviable babies?

"That being said, the reason his practice even existed was due in part to the difficulty some lower-income women had in obtaining early abortions."

So why didn't they go to Gosnell earlier? Wasn't his office open for business then? 🤔

"The conservative wing has been chomping at the bit to overturn Roe and they weren't going to take the chance that they wouldn't be able to next year due to some unforeseen change."

They would only have had to wait until early November, not until next year.
@Thinkerbell Gosnell preyed on women who had to save up for abortions, to travel and pay for the procedure. If the Hyde Amendment didn't exist, these women's abortions would have been covered by Medicaid. Gosnell was filling a need created by government policy. What's amazing isn't that Gosnell's practice existed, but that there aren't more of them. It will be interesting if similar practitioners crop up over the next few years with the new abortion restrictions making the procedure harder to obtain in many parts of the country.

Alito wasn't thinking about timing his decision to avoid harming the GOP in the midterms, because he didn't have to. It's not like he's going to lose his job if the Republicans lose seats in Congress. I can't read his mind but I imagine his main concern was overturning Roe as soon as he had the chance and not helping Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy.

You also get working class people voting Tory. It's invariably those who choose to punch down, not up.

Once upon a time the cities of Glasgow and Liverpool had many staunch conservative areas. It seems ridiculous now given that I don't think either city has even has a Tory councillor in years. Glasgow has a pro indie majority and even the Liverpool middle class leans socialist.

It was down to anti-irish sectarianism, as the Protestant working class of each city hated the immigrants more than their bosses. It's divide and conquer. There are new integrations of a very old story.

There is a pychological benefit to being better than those beneath you in the cultural hierarchy and sometimes even earning the respect of your masters. Even if it does help preserve the class/gender/race structures that keep the current system intact.

Women voting and supporting what is against their best interests.
Cult.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@Carla Why not let the women decide for themselves what is in their best interests.Dont assume a cult mentality just because somone doesn't agree with you on a certain issue.
With all due respect, that's way too simplistic. The Republican party still is courting the woman voter, and they're not saying the vote has no value to them.

I get how Republican policies seem to to be disproportionately adverse to women with respect to reproduction, but the bigger picture, imo, seems to be the blatant disregard for honesty and objective reality.

That, imo, is destined to screw daughters and sons, as well as mother's and fathers.
@LeopoldBloom I also know enough people from red states to know what people declare in public to avoid gossip at church versus what they actually believe can often be very different.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I've heard stories from clinic workers about women picketing the clinic, quietly coming in for their own abortions, then going right back to picketing. Something like one-quarter of American women have at least one abortion, and all of these are not liberals.

@LeopoldBloom And that's the difference between the two parties. One authentically tries to maintain social justice by doing the right things.

The other simply wants to look the part.

Bunch. Of. Utter. Nonsense. Many, if not most, of the strongest advocates against baby-killing are strong, brave, women.

As opposed to your baby killing party?

@sunsporter1649 We already know you fear and hate women. No need to repeat yourself.
There's no reason to risk becoming an honest or authentic person in Murka -. You'll be fired and beaten.
Feminism used to be treated with shock therapy. Maybe we should go back to doing that; this time, for the men too.
deadgerbil · 26-30
@RocktheHouse when was feminism treated with shock therapy? What years?
