"Interesting you can't actually make a relevant counter argument. That speaks volumes."
...says the guy who to this day swoons over a system in which the Nomenklatura made dray oxen out of 90% of the population it controlled. And even put up statues celebrating the accomplishment. 🙄 🙄 🙄
And yes, Picsie, we know... anything you don't like to hear is "irrelevant." 😂 😂 😂
@Thinkerbell And deflecting with red scare bullshit that was stale in my grandfather's era.
Still have a picture of mental patient Joe McCarthy over your bed?
I see you still cannot post a relevant comment. But if you want to be demoted to livestock and let a bunch of old men dictate what you can do with your body I guess that is your prerogative.
"And deflecting with red scare bullshit that was stale in my grandfather's era."
By the time (the relatively better) Gorbachev came along, it was decades after McCarthy, but in any case, it was too late to save the moribund Russian communist system, much to your sorrow. 😂 😂 😂
"But if you want to be demoted to livestock..."
...says the guy who admires the system that made livestock out of 90% of its population. 🙄 🙄 🙄
And I was never "demoted to livestock," because I had sufficient control over my body never to have had an unwanted pregnancy and never to have contracted an STD, unlike the livestock you seem to favor. 🙄 🙄 🙄

Clearly you don't believe this or understand this because you are repeating cliches that were stale when the Cuban Missile Crisis happened.
Have fun being cattle.
And good job with the misogynistic slut shaming bullshit. Congrats you won the right wing stereotype bingo.
"Clearly you don't believe this or understand this because you are repeating cliches that were stale when the Cuban Missile Crisis happened."
Of course, Picsie... we'll get it right this time, won't we? What's a few more tens of millions of deaths and a few more million political prisoners in gulags?
@Thinkerbell The US had almost 50 years of legal abortion without turning into a dictatorship. Can you address the argument without jumping to “I’m not a slut” or “you’re a commie?”
Even the most careful woman can be raped, yet at least ten states don’t have an exception for that. I’m glad you’ve never had to deal with that but not all women are so lucky. And before you say, “I support a rape exception,” the problem is that the choice in many states doesn’t include that.
@LeopoldBloom She can't because her entire position is slut shaming and "everyone who disagrees with me is a commie."
So walking stereotype.
Tinkerbell seems the type that would claim victims are asking for it. Because if you listen to the right wingers here what they call "legitimate rape" is apparently super rare in their alternate reality.
And if the answer is "abortions for rape are rare," so-called "late-term" abortions are even rarer, but the pro-life side makes it sound like every abortion is an 8 ½ month fetus that the doctor tears apart with a billhook before feeding through a wood chipper.
The rape exception is what's called a moral bandaid - a supposedly reasonable position that makes pro lifers sound less crazy than they really are. And if a ZEF is a "baby," why does it make any difference if it's from rape? Can a woman kill her two year old if it was the result of rape and she finally decided that it reminds her too much of the rapist?
@LeopoldBloom Well Tink is someone who on another thread claimed a now imfamous nazi battalion was just a "style choice." Only bringing that up to point out their moral compass is a bit busted to start with.
"The US had almost 50 years of legal abortion without turning into a dictatorship. Can you address the argument without jumping to “I’m not a slut” or “you’re a commie?” "
You missed my point, Leo. Picsiie got all outraged because the current Supreme court ruled that the abortion legality question was returned to the States, while blithely having no outrage whatsoever (but rather has admiration) for a grotesque system that enslaved the vast majority of its population. And if you don't think Picsie is a commie, take a look at his "about me" page, where he has the old Soviet national anthem posted. 😂 😂 😂

Of course I support exceptions for rape, incest, and ectopic pregnancies or other cases where the life of the mother would be in danger. And if I lived in one of those ten states, I would vote against politicians who would not move to amend the abortion laws of that state.
I do have a problem with killing a sentient fetus however. Don't most states have stricter laws against animal cruelty than that?
"Well Tink is someone who on another thread claimed a now imfamous nazi battalion was just a "style choice." "
Liar. What I said was something to effect of 'Yeah, right... the 900 members of the Azov Battalion got together to install a Jewish nazi as president of Ukraine, so naturally Putin had to do something about it.' 🙄
@Thinkerbell Lindsey Graham has proposed a nationwide abortion ban, so are you going to vote against your Republican Senate candidate because you live in the U.S.? That is, if the goal is to allow the states to decide if they want to legalize it or not.
A fetus becomes sentient very late in pregnancy, if at all. 93% of abortions are in the first trimester, when the fetus definitely isn't sentient. Late abortions aren't done on a whim, these are tragic situations where the mother wanted the baby but found out that it had a serious genetic defect, or that she herself wouldn't survive childbirth. Forcing these women to give birth anyway is sadistic.
The neurologist delivered more bad news: additional brain anomalies. My little daughter would likely never walk, talk, swallow, or support the weight of her head. She would require brain surgery to extend her life, but no surgery could ever cure her.
“What can she do?” I asked. “Does a child like mine just sleep all day?”
He winced at the question. “Children like yours are not generally comfortable enough to sleep.”
"Lindsey Graham has proposed a nationwide abortion ban, so are you going to vote against your Republican Senate candidate because you live in the U.S.? That is, if the goal is to allow the states to decide if they want to legalize it or not."
Lindsey Graham is an id*ot, and I certainly wouldn't vote for him, unless his opponent were even worse.
Furthermore, I don't see how a federal law of that sort (either for or against abortion) would stand Constitutional muster, now that the Supreme Court has determined that it is a matter for the individual States to decide.
And as for fetal sentience, the argument seems to be between weeks 20 and 29, not "if at all."
@Thinkerbell It's adorable that you think the Federalist Society hacks on the Supreme Court wouldn't uphold a nationwide abortion ban. Alito has no problem going against precedent, including his own.
Abortions after 20 weeks are around 1.3% of the total, and as I pointed out, these are done to save the mother's life or when the fetus has a serious defect. Did you even read the article? The woman had to travel to one of four clinics in the US and pay $20 grand out of pocket to spare her daughter a short life of unimaginable suffering. She could have gone to a clinic in her own state, except the doctor who ran it, George Tiller, was murdered by an anti-abortion terrorist while he was serving as an usher at his church.
Yes, yes, Leo, we can cite horror stories on both sides of the issue. 🙄
"A Philadelphia doctor was sentenced Wednesday to a third life term for killing an aborted baby that he described as so big it could "walk to the bus."
As for the "Federalist Society hacks," if they were as unprincipled as you seem to think, then they surely would have waited until after the midterm elections to overturn Roe v. Wade. 🙄
@Thinkerbell What makes you think I support Gosnell? He was a criminal and got what he deserved. No one is saying what he did should be legal. That happened almost a decade ago, by the way. That being said, the reason his practice even existed was due in part to the difficulty some lower-income women had in obtaining early abortions. If we repealed the Hyde Amendment, this wouldn't happen as poor women would be able to get government funding and would have their abortions earlier. With abortion being effectively outlawed in large portions of the country, we can expect to see more abuses like Gosnell's, more dumpster babies, and an even higher maternal death rate.
The conservative wing has been chomping at the bit to overturn Roe and they weren't going to take the chance that they wouldn't be able to next year due to some unforeseen change. I also think they underestimated the reaction. We'll know after the midterms how significant that reaction is. It's not like they would be affected by the Democrats hanging on to Congress anyway.
