Unfortunately the right wants to move towards a communist way of life.
Why?
Because communism is about control, suppression and fear. Fear that if you don’t follow the communist party agenda you will be disappeared/arrested/held for treason.
The right wing senators or those who ultimately want to be senators love the idea of controlling others, suppressing any free speech and fear of arrest.

@sunsporter1649 Nice way to be hyperbolic as a way to dismiss actual subject matter. Your picture refers to leftists putting things like Dr. Seuss on the chopping block but as you can see as CNN notes, dozens of Dr. Seuss books are still there while it's only the in your face racist content that's been out.
Can conservatives say the same when they want to ban ALL LGBT or black authors? Nope, they wanted to fully ban it, therefore your cartoon isn't logically sound.

The founding fathers did not want religion to be part of the state, let alone for it to be a theocracy. Thomas Jefferson authored the Virginia Statute on Religious Freedom, which was a precursor to the "establishment clause" in the First Amendment to the Constitution that formalized the separation of Church and State. (He was so proud of that achievement it was engraved as part of his epitaph.) The First Amendment got rid of previous requirements in some state constitutions that voters or officeholder had to be Christians, or Protestant Christians, or any other form of religious test. Even the quasi-religious language in documents like the Declaration of Independence (speaking of inalienable rights "endowed by their Creator") is very intentionally ecumenical and non-Christian in its wording).

@sunsporter1649 Yes, I know. 🙄

@Harmonium1923 I'm glad the founding fathers didn't want religion and state together. I don't get how conservatives can blatantly lie like that.

@SatanBurger Freedom of religion is protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which prohibits laws establishing a national religion or impeding the free exercise of religion for its citizens.
The Fourteenth Amendment, adopted in 1868, extended religious freedom by preventing states from enacting laws that would advance or inhibit any one religion.

I hate this on so many levels.
It's really intellectually disingenuous to teach politically contentious issues as if they are uncontested facts. It's also deeply ironic that Conservatives in America are paranoid about alleged indoctrination in schools and their solution is to moan about it, exaggerate it, take the moral high ground and then do the same thing but worse!
The one silver lining is that they will struggle to implement this. Most teachers are centrist or left-leaning. This is also true of school leaders and bureaucrats. I wonder how far will they go to impose all this. Will they actually fire teachers who don't comply?

@SatanBurger And of course left-wing nut-job marxists like you are all-encompassing, and love everyone, right?
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@sunsporter1649 I don't love everyone, I simply give issues some thought and dig into why something may be valid or not. Common sense.

If you don't want to read a book, don't read the book.
If you don't want to recognize lgbtq issues, don't recognize them.
If you want the freedom to be racist, be a racist.
If you want to practice a religion, go to church and practice it.
If you don't believe in abortions, don't have one.
Don't tell me how to live my life and we won't have to push back at the way you live yours.

@Graylight "People who can't control themselves, will try to control others" there's usually a strong authoritarian bent with those types of people. The quote in theory is how it's supposed to be but with authoritarianism, the psychological make up of these people is quite different.

So why is ANY ideology being taught in public schools? But you just seem concerned about the conservative ideology being taught. By your own questioning you will have abandon CRT and LGBT indoctrination as well. Or are you going to be a hypocrite? You can skip writing paragraphs and just get to the “I am a hypocrite” part.
stratosranger · M
@SatanBurger BUT you are against indoctrination in schools, right? So all things being equal, sorry that needs to be nixed too or your whole argument is flawed with hypocrisy.
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@stratosranger If children have sex ed and biology in school, do you think it's more logically sound teaching them half of the story? That only heterosexuality exists to make babies. That just doesn't sound as logical as let's say teaching all of biology. This view is a neutral view, your view is coming from an anti LGBT place and assuming that it's not part of the human race, therefore you deem it as ideological, I think it's a part of life. This is very simple.

What a load of crapola.
Conservatives don't want CRT practiced in schools.
Conservatives don't want LGBT indoctrination at schools.
Conservatives encourage girls to play in girls sports.
Conservatives encourage boys to play in boys sports.
Conservatives in America are concerned with any narrative that doesn't involve their own carefully crafted identities ...
If you're a white Evangelical, you're not going to want Rosa Parks in schools,...
If you're an anti gay conservative who only has religious ideals then you're not going to want heterosexuals that exist....
If you're a traditionalist conservative, you're not going to want women in fighting sports,
will prescribe gender roles to nearly everything,

@Budwick But conservatives banning Rosa Parks and deeming her as CRT just goes to show that it's more about identity than you think. Rosa Parks is iconic to understanding the discourse around slavery. I can say a lot more things but you should get the point.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
If you look close, it says freedom of religion, not freedom from religion
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@sunsporter1649 Yes. Doesn't change anything nor my opinion.
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
This is nonsense, as are some views of the left about history.
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@Fukfacewillie I just dislike using the founding fathers as an excuse for literally everything. It doesn't matter if the founding fathers were religious zealots nor if they were secular, it only matters if it's wrong or right. If Christians wouldn't like Muslims to impose on them, it's logical to support separation of church and state. I only care about moving on.
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@SatanBurger Republicans used be afraid of Sharia law. I never understood that. How would it get passed?
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@Fukfacewillie Hehe good point lol.
