Might not be the right topic but apparently the seized classified documents were de-classified. I wonder if the real motive for the raid was to confiscate information adverse to the current administration or the Democrats in general. Aside from a pure political motive for weaponizing a federal agency, seems to me that could be an explanation. Pure speculation on my part. I have no evidence to suggest that is why. But in the dirty world of politics it could make sense.
JackMasters · 51-55, M
@akindheart Actually, Obama didn't take them. Although the 30 million pages are located in Chicago, they're at a National Archives facility, where the NARA has legal and physical custody. After everything has been digitized, the records will eventually be housed at the Obama presidential library. In any event, Obama has no control over where and how NARA stores the presidential records of his administration.

But in answer to your question, the records in Chicago are not classified. The classified records are still in Washington DC.

In the words of Elon Musk, this is a total nothing burger.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@JackMasters obama or whoever takes 30 million and it is a nothing burger??? or Hillary deleting the 30,000 classified emails and bleached her server? that is a nothing burger?? me thinks you protest too much.
JackMasters · 51-55, M
@akindheart Respectfully, me thinks I protest just the right amount.

It's simply a matter of verifiable facts. Obama doesn't have possession of his administration's documents. He didn't take them. Since they'll eventually be stored at the Obama Presidential Library in Chicago, the NARA decided to house them near that location and then transfer them after they've been digitized. Over 30 million pages is a lot to scan, so the task will probably take a while. Crucially, it was the NARA who decided to do the process closer to the eventual permanent storage site this time, which is the Obama Presidential Library. NOT Obama.

As far as Hillary Clinton and her email server, she screwed up. She shouldn't have done it. The FBI decided it wasn't a crime, she simply made a mistake. Of course, many have argued that her "mistake" is more egregious than the justice department characterized. I'm old school and tend to trust the FBI.

Regardless, Hillary Clinton's actions regarding her email server have absolutely nothing to do with President Trump seizing, transporting and then holding these documents. There's no equivalence. The same holds true for Obama's presidential records. Both are totally irrelevant. The only thing that matters in this instance is what former President Trump did and why he did it. Everything else is superfluous what-aboutism.

THIS IS A TERRIBLE IDEA
This plays right into the game plan. The White House has already warned of violent protests. All they need is to send in 1 or 2 agitators, for someone to get hurt or killed, and every conservative will be suspect and subject to FBI investigation.
Sen. Rubio has already warned that this is the next step in the process in any country where the ruling party has decided to criminalize their political opposition. The only answer is the ballot box
@GJOFJ3 Do it in Portland, Oregon. No one will know who started the violence.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
Eventually, power WILL change hands to the other party. When it does,I pray they have the courage and will to set these abuses right and punish those responsible.
JackMasters · 51-55, M
@DavidT8899 Totally. But before they commence to punishing people, I hope they have the thoroughness, honesty and fortitude to actually verify that "abuses" genuinely took place.

If they need a good example of how to do that, they would do well to pay close attention to what's currently happening regarding former president Donald Trump.

@soar2newhighs There are enough of us who want to clean up this mess and who can see it for what it is. Both sides need each other but both sides are intractable at the moment. We Americans can get this done.

So, with that said, please have kids. Lots of them. And raise them right, so we don't fall in this hole again. 😉
@JackMasters Thanks. I’m older than dirt, fart dust and don’t see any marriage prospects, much less kids. ThT wi Dow closed some almost 50 years ago. I appreciate your concerns.
JackMasters · 51-55, M
@soar2newhighs Damnit, I'm too old too. Guess I'll have to pester the Next Generation.

What do you think? I'm sure they'll be down for that.

(Older than fart dust. Love that line!)

Okay, I'm looking, really really hard, trying to see Venezuela-level of banana republic bullshit. I'm a lifelong Republican and conservative, so I should easily be able to see it. Looking at everything that's happened, all the facts as I can see them, and...

Nope. Can't see it.

Does that make me a RINO?
Carissimi · 70-79, F
You have an empty profile. Just someone who walked in off the street as a shill for the Left. @JackMasters
Budwick · 70-79, M
@JackMasters
Nope. Can't see it.
Then as article says - If you can’t see the Venezuela-level of banana republic bullshit, you can’t be helped.

JackMasters · 51-55, M
@Budwick You guys can't help me? Goodness, well that's a relief.

You have a nice day too, Bud. 👍

Blimey, everyone over there is wound up tight today.
JackMasters · 51-55, M
@Budwick I hear you brother. My gosh, having to think and consider and really analyze things is exhausting. Sometimes I just want to give up and drink the kool-aid. It would be so much easier.

Anyway, as the Aussies would say, good on ya mate!
Budwick · 70-79, M
@JackMasters Say Jack, there's a cliff near you that is really anxious for some one to take a leap. Be lamb, ....
JackMasters · 51-55, M
@Budwick Oh, cool. Thanks for the heads up. Hey, if I'm hesitant to jump, could I count on you to push me off? You'd do that for me, right? I mean, you do seem like the type.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
Just imagine republicans carrying acab signs finally
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@HannibalAteMeOut They did last time.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MrBrownstone see, anarchists have been right all along. The police is just the current government's puppet. You should have never glorified them.

If the protest remains completely peaceful, and the participants NEVER become violent, I hope it is noticed and successfully shames the FBI.

That being said, January 6th was peaceful, too, until Ray Epps...
JackMasters · 51-55, M
@4meAndyou How was January 6th peaceful? Regardless of what video clips we're being shown these days, I watched it in real time from multiple different news stations to get a balanced view, and it didn't seem peaceful then.
My Canadian friend wrote saying he feared right wing violence. So far it has been not so but I told him if it does come, it will make Jan 6th look like a Girl Scout gathering.

@Stereoguy Don’t they have every thing fenced off?
If the right’s/ Trump followers/ supporters as many call Trump supporters, “cult”, etc., anger matches their financial support of Trump, it could get real ugly.
