akindheart I hear you. And I understand that you believe Donald Trump over everyone else. And because you do believe Donald Trump, you honestly believe he's the only one qualified to lead our country. You should have the benefit of the doubt that you honestly and truly love our country and want what's best for us.
Essentially, we've gotten to the point where his base believes if Donald Trump says something, that makes it true. It's a binary, black and white situation, and there's no room for debate. There's no middle/common ground anymore.
I don't believe Donald Trump, due to what I have personaly observed and learned about him. I don't even think he's capable of telling the truth, or really even capable of knowing what the truth is. He can easily convince himself to believe his own lies. So, I'm on the other side of things. The way I see it, if Donald Trump says it, it's probably (almost certainly) a lie. So yeah, no more common ground.
I don't believe in the liberal Elite agenda either. I vehemently reject being ruled by the elitist hought police and I refuse to submit to the woke mind virus. I'm not for that at all. But I believe based on what I've observed over several years, since before Trump became president, that Donald Trump is at his core a criminal and a con man, and also a narcissistic megalomaniac. He wants power purely for self aggrandizement, and now that he has gotten a taste of real power he's willing to do anything to get it back and keep it. I'm not sure, but I think he may even be evil.
My point of view is counter to the near religious zealotry of Trump's base. Again, Trump is near godlike, and if he says something, his base takes it as gospel. If he does something, that means it's good. Like Richard Nixon said, if the president does it, that makes it legal.
As a country, I don't know how to get out of this. We're at the point where each side doesn't want to hear from the other and won't believe anything the other side says. People want to believe alternate facts. If one set of facts doesn't support your paradigm, there are plenty of other "facts" you can choose that will. My own family is deeply split over this. It's very painful. The only thing I can say is that I hope and pray that we get past this. That we eventually have true leadership (which is not something we are enjoying at present - I'm not a fan of Biden,) to bring us closer together again. Or at least to the point where both sides can agree on what are facts and what is objectively true.
I know, that's a very tall order. So I pray.
