Okay, I'm looking, really really hard, trying to see Venezuela-level of banana republic bullshit. I'm a lifelong Republican and conservative, so I should easily be able to see it. Looking at everything that's happened, all the facts as I can see them, and...
@JackMasters when a president 's home is barnstormed, his safe broken open all the while he is cooperating over so called "classified docs" yeah that is 3rd world country tactics.
@akindheart I can see it from your point of view. But that means that you have to take it for granted that Trump's home was barnstormed like he described, and that he actually did cooperate and offered all of the documents that the government wanted back beforehand.
Of course Trump claims that he did cooperate and handed over all of the documents. He also claims that his home was raided and occupied by a large number of FBI personnel. Funny thing, very shortly after he posted his tweet, the various news stations rushed over to get a look, and there was nothing there. The FBI had come and gone. No "occupation." Is that what having your home "barnstormed" and "raided" looks like?
Also, the FBI can't do what they did without a search warrant signed by a judge. The White House spokespeople say they didn't know anything about it, and the justice department and Merick Garland have said that they are not coordinating with the Whate House. If you choose to take them at their word, that means this is not being driven or controlled by the President. If you take their word for it...
I'm guessing you would take Donald Trump's word over the President and Justice Department and the judge who signed the search warrant.
The problem I have with that is I've observed Donald Trump to lie. A lot. So I don't take his word. And I hope to God the Republican Party finds an alternative and qualified candidate for president. Well, if things proceed according to how it looks like they may, the GOP is going to have to, because Donald Trump will not be qualified to run for office again. Unless, of course, he manages to lead a successful coup this time.
This lifelong Republican, conservative, veteran, and Patriot sincerely hopes he doesn't.
@JackMasters I live near Mar A lago. when our liberal papers show the entrance blocked off, the safe reportedly broken into and the FBI standing at the gates, believe me, it happened.
What politician doesn't lie? i never called him St. Donald but compared to what i am seeing with Pelosi and Biden and their families, he does look pretty clean.
Face it, they are pretty desperate at this point because he is going to announce he is running again.
As for an alternative, there is NO ONE and i mean NO ONE that can clean up this mess but Trump.
Lastly, this topic of documents was brought up months ago. months ago.
The FBI and the Dems really messed up. big time. So if i have to choose over believing the Dems or Trump, I will take Trump anytime. me and a lot of people can't be that wrong.
@akindheart I hear you. And I understand that you believe Donald Trump over everyone else. And because you do believe Donald Trump, you honestly believe he's the only one qualified to lead our country. You should have the benefit of the doubt that you honestly and truly love our country and want what's best for us.
Essentially, we've gotten to the point where his base believes if Donald Trump says something, that makes it true. It's a binary, black and white situation, and there's no room for debate. There's no middle/common ground anymore.
I don't believe Donald Trump, due to what I have personaly observed and learned about him. I don't even think he's capable of telling the truth, or really even capable of knowing what the truth is. He can easily convince himself to believe his own lies. So, I'm on the other side of things. The way I see it, if Donald Trump says it, it's probably (almost certainly) a lie. So yeah, no more common ground.
I don't believe in the liberal Elite agenda either. I vehemently reject being ruled by the elitist hought police and I refuse to submit to the woke mind virus. I'm not for that at all. But I believe based on what I've observed over several years, since before Trump became president, that Donald Trump is at his core a criminal and a con man, and also a narcissistic megalomaniac. He wants power purely for self aggrandizement, and now that he has gotten a taste of real power he's willing to do anything to get it back and keep it. I'm not sure, but I think he may even be evil.
My point of view is counter to the near religious zealotry of Trump's base. Again, Trump is near godlike, and if he says something, his base takes it as gospel. If he does something, that means it's good. Like Richard Nixon said, if the president does it, that makes it legal.
As a country, I don't know how to get out of this. We're at the point where each side doesn't want to hear from the other and won't believe anything the other side says. People want to believe alternate facts. If one set of facts doesn't support your paradigm, there are plenty of other "facts" you can choose that will. My own family is deeply split over this. It's very painful. The only thing I can say is that I hope and pray that we get past this. That we eventually have true leadership (which is not something we are enjoying at present - I'm not a fan of Biden,) to bring us closer together again. Or at least to the point where both sides can agree on what are facts and what is objectively true.
@JackMasters I really respect what you wrote. you have been more than respectful. I also respect your right to have your viewpoints. i also see what you say about his ego too. but honestly, we had a good country when he was around. we had the best economy, none of this BS with immigrants (come down to Florida and see what has gone on down here) i am now a minority in my own country. The only white person on my entire block. i have watched cities being burnt down by the Dems, i have seen the absolutely worst of our govt ever with the games that Pelosi has played. I will take Trump any day over the buffoon we have in office now. I will take my chances on Trump. Like i said, this many people can't be wrong.
@akindheart Respect back to you A Kind Heart. And I will have to respectfully disagree with your statement that so many people can't be wrong. Trump is very good at what he does, and he's recruited a very solid base. He has told these people lies and reinforced their biases and deluded them. So while I can say that I do indeed believe they are all wrong, they just as confidently believe that they're right and all who don't believe in Trump are wrong. Sorry, I know claiming that you're deluded is pretty insulting. I'm not trying to be offensive.
There's a couple of things I'd like to comment on from your post. First, while I side more with the traditional Republican and conservative paradigm, I also honestly believe that we need the Democrats and liberals. And they need us.
The Republican side are who drive our country to Greatness and make us accomplish so many fantastic and wonderful things. They are the engine for our economy that makes this country the beacon that attracts so many immigrants.
The Democratic side (I don't subscribe to their pompous self-cliassification as "progressives", as if their paradigm is the only thing that can lead to progress - that's just hubristic bullshit) are who we need to KEEP us great. The Democrats keep us honest and keep the playing field level so that everyone who is capable can achieve greatness in our country. If we got rid of the Democrats, we would devolve into autocratic fascism. And the same would happen if we got rid of the Republican side (or more accurately, what the Republicans used to stand for.) I believe it's the constant tension between the two sides that keeps us in balance, or it used to.
Finally, I was pretty intrigued by your mention of your discomfort and tention regarding the immigrants in Florida. For most of my life, I lived in southern california, so I know how it is. I'll agree that immigration has been poorly managed for the last few decades. We used to have a fantastic system for integrating new immigrants. And they would become proud American citizens and in many cases would love our country with more ferocity than those who were privileged to be born here. And I am extremely proud that so many people want to come and live in the USA. They want to come to that shining City on a Hill, as Ronald Reagan characterized America. But our immigration system is broken, and Congressional gridlock has prevented us from fixing it. That needs to be rectified. I think if we fix the immigration system, we can benefit hugely from the well-managed influx.
I just finished a book called The End of the World Is Just the Beginning by Peter Zeihan. He predicts that, due to myriad reasons ranging from geopolitical, the collapse of globalization, geographical and climate, and collapsing demographics due to plunging birth rates in developed countries, the world is going to go to hell over the next decade. But the United States is going to be spared much of the horror. We're going to suffer, but compared to everyone else, we're nearly immune. I'd recommend his book wholeheartedly. One of the points he makes is that our population is going to grow significantly over the next few decades, and part of that will be due to immigration. Everyone is going to want to come here to the one exceptional country in order to escape the horror. That can be a boon to us if we set up systems to receive them and process them and help them integrate into our society and accept our culture. If we don't do that, it's going to be a mess.
They were there from 9am-6 pm, and would not even allow Trump’s lawyers to watch or videotape where they went, or what they did. The search warrant is sealed, so they don’t even know why they are there. The National Archives has confirmed Trump handed over 15 boxes earlier this year. I could go on, but I know the facts won’t matter to you. I doubt you are a conservative, and if you are, then you are the RINO type, which means you are not a conservative at all. You may fool others, but you don’t fool me. @JackMasters
@Carissimi If the definition of RINO means I don't accept your choice of facts and that I do not subscribe to your version of events, then I proudly claim RINO. If the Republican party has sunk to such deapths, if they've gone so far to the dark side that they are no longer redeemable, then I renounce the Republican Party and beseech someone to start a viable third party to get us back on track again. If the GOP now stands for trumpism, you can have it. I don't want it. And good riddance.
Your response to @akindheart proves you are a Leftist. No genuine conservative would trust the word of Garland and the Biden administration over President Trump. Sir, you are a fake! @JackMasters
