It's about power and connections. The Clintons and Biden have it because they've spent their entire adult lives cultivating it.
Trump does not, therefore everything he does will be given extra scrutiny and less benefit of the doubt.
It's not a Republican or Democrat thing. It's about having the power and influence to convince people you are a saint, while your political enemies are Hitler.
What say you about the Hunter Biden laptop or HRC's secret, illegal email server? You think justice was served there?

@dakotaviper Nixon took a pardon (admitting his crime) and resigned. No American should be above the law, as much as it has often seemed they are.. Opinions on Trump aside, if there is evidence, it needs to be followed, no matter where it leads..😷
dakotaviper · 56-60, M
@whowasthatmaskedman True, but they still didn't Raid his Home. Now did they.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@dakotaviper Agreed.. Maybe they should have, and the Clintons. We will never know. Maybe they got it wrong then. But by the process, they got it right this time. And you better believe the FBI people and the judge who signed off on this did so with one eye on their careers if this doesnt turn out right.. Being raided like that doesnt mean trump is guilty. Thats the law. But go have a look at what the Vegas betting is on it after the raids. Those guys know how these things work.,😷
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Not a Trumper but it is obvious to anyone with more than one functioning synapse that this raid was pure politics and nothing to do with the law. The FBI has a long and storied history of being politicised and treats certain individuals with much different than others based entirely upon their politics. One area I do agree with Trump is his idea of an out of control bureaucracy that is actually running the US while the politicians provide the entertainment to keep the public's attention off the bureaucracy. The FBI is just one of the armed branches of that bureaucracy and thus the pointy end of the stick. BTW what ever happened to Seth Rich?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SW-User Several cooked up investigations that showed him innocent. If you fail to see the political hatchet work done on Trump you have not been paying attention. If something like the Mueller investigation can't find anything there is nothing there. Mueller's flunkies were out for blood.
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 Not A,Trumper You couldve fooled me mister LOL😷
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@JohnOinger Was Trump better than Carter, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama and now Biden. Absolutely. I would rate him higher than Reagan too. However that does not mean I think he was perfect. Like Reagan he ran into the Deep State and the Deep State won. He most certainly screwed up with the covid response and his operation warp speed. He also failed to safe guard a presidential election although as president he was rather limited in what he could do since the presidential elections are largely controlled by the state governments.
Nanoose · 61-69, M
They haven't just lost their shit they lost their money. Shortly after the raid Trump went on Truth Social and called the raid a witch hunt then he started begging for donations. The raid didn't cost Trump a penny but he will milk it for all that it is worth and try to make money from it. Cheers!
SW-User
@carpediem Why are actions like that unacceptable? You think that Trump, who is the subject of several ongoing criminal investigations, should be above the law?
carpediem · 61-69, M
@SW-User No. He should be treated equally as others. Equal justice. Ever hear it? They could have acquired the items they wanted other ways. But they chose to harass. Well careful what you wish for.
Hunter Biden has a laptop full of damning evidence that they do nothing about. Evidence that compromises the president. Nothing.
Go away you troll. I'm done engaging you kid.

@carpediem But Hunter Biden was not the former president who is being investigated, among other things, for inciting a coup. Nice attempt at deflection.

Because, libby troll, deserving democrats always seem to avoid justice but use it to attack their political enemies. And just like with the Russian collusion scam, they have no proof, just false claims and slanders.
TexChik · F
@SW-User just because the director claims to be a republican, his actions serve the democrats. Two weeks ago Biden joked about arresting republicans. And now a corrupt democrat judge who is connected to Havey Weinstein is issuing warrants to raid the Trump home and they have taken a sitting congressman's cell phone. Clearly they intend to do anything to intimidate their political foes. The fall out from this will be interesting to see.
SW-User
@TexChik It sure will. Trump will be charged (perhaps not convicted) and his presidential ambitions will be done 😂 And, I say again, if he had gone after Hillary, Obama, or any other democrat in exactly the same way, you would be trumpeting that justice is being done :) At the end of the day, NO Democrat is the subject of ongoing criminal activities, and certainly not any former Democratic President.
At the end of the day, Trump, who claims to be a man of the people, does not expect to be treated like one of the people, and he can't take it.

TexChik · F
@SW-User That has always been the libby plan but in a court of law (which they always avoid), things will go quite differently if it ever goes that far at all.
Stillwaiting · M
On going for years .. no convictions. Seems like more of the same .. looking in hopes of finding something vs having justification. The door has been opened .. the next time Republicans have power they will have precedent.
Will you think this kind of use of power is good for America then?

When the National Archives asked for the documents, Trump ignored the request.
When the National Archives subpoenaed the documents, Trump handed over some but not all.
When the FBI got a tip with a description of more documents that remained and that Trump had withheld them, the FBI was justified in filing for a search warrant.
The search warrant is justified when all other recourse has been tried and failed.
And the proof was in the result - Trump was illegally holding onto government documents in violation of the Espionage Act; a law that does NOT depend on classification vs declassification.
Here's some commentary about Trump's "declassification" defense:

Here's some commentary about Trump's "declassification" defense:
Mr. Bolton, who served as Mr. Trump’s third national security adviser over 17 months, said he had never heard of the standing order that Mr. Trump’s office claimed to have in place. It is, he said, “almost certainly a lie.”
“I was never briefed on any such order, procedure, policy when I came in,” Mr. Bolton said, adding that he had never been told of it while he was working there, and had never heard of such a thing after. “If he were to say something like that, you would have to memorialize that, so that people would know it existed,” he said.
What’s more, he pointed out, secure facilities for viewing sensitive material were constructed at Mr. Trump’s clubs in Florida and New Jersey, where he often spent weekends as president, meaning that the documents wouldn’t need to be declassified. And if they were declassified, Mr. Bolton said, they would be considered subject to public record requests.
He continued, “When somebody begins to concoct lies like this, it shows a real level of desperation.”

A bit more:
The claim that the documents held in the Florida residence were declassified also undercut an assertion one of Mr. Trump’s lawyers made in June. In a written declaration, the lawyer’s team said all material marked as classified and stored at Mar-a-Lago had been returned to the government.

It is becoming more obvious that the democrats are scrambling for something that will stick, they are still trying to discredit him before the 2024 election. Every time they try and fail, it makes the democrat senators and congressmen look more worthless along with republicans like Liz Cheney. Trump isn't going to run in 2024, he is just causing liberals to implode on themselves for fun.
SW-User
@Graylight No, and that's my point. Garland was blocked while Obama was president...
@Roadsterrider We are not imploding - far from it. We are protecting The Constitution. You know that little historical document your side claims to abide by ?
If anyone is imploding it's the dip shit that went to FBI building with a nail gun. Or the Neanderthals that stormed The Capitol and pissed and shit everywhere.
As much as your side attempts to polish your turd emperor Trump he is still a piece of shit.
Pick a new hero.

Why you ask? Well here's your answer!
For over 246 YEARS, No Former President has had his personal Home Raided by the US Government.
Until this highly questionable Raid, over 90% of moderates, independents, conservatives, and Republicans were seeking someone else to combat the I Hate America Democrat Party of the USA.
Now you've given Trump a Lifeline to Run Again in 2024.
I hope that you're satisfied with this Historical Raid.
You better hope that it doesn't cause your agenda in November to backfire in a big way.

@dakotaviper I guess over the last 246 years, people were smart enough to not vote for a guy that doesn't give a fuck about the laws of the land. 🤷♂️ But I guess, for a part of he voter base today, presidents in a western democracy have some kind of absolute power and are absolved from breaking the law and being investigated for possible crimes.
SW-User
@dakotaviper Well here's my reply:
For over 246 YEARS, No Former President was under active criminal investigation by the US Government.
Does this mean that just because there is a 246 year precedent, all presidents should be above the law?

Because, like negative media coverage, it’s quite one-sided. Hillary broke the law and the FBI brushed it all aside. Or how about Pelosi’s obvious insider trading? Nothing to see here. Trump? Oh!!! Well they’re right on that immediately! Timing is sus too. Midterms coming. Gotta throw up as much mud as possible. But it’s gonna backfire. So enjoy trolling. Red tsunami coming your way.
SW-User
@stratosranger Well of course they're on it immediately. Hillary, Pelosi, etc. are not the subject of ongoing criminal investigations, and are not accused of orchestrating a coup. Also, they were not President of the United States. It's hilarious that you think this is somehow unfair 😁

Because he responded completely to a subpoena for the same information in May. The reasonable approach to a desire for documents is a subpoena not a raid.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@redredred Any good source on that: "He responded completely to a subpoena for the same information in May."-claim? Cause ABC-News says that it is unclear that he responded to it.

... So yeah, where do you get that confirmation? Because you are not a person to be taken at face value.
It is not immediately clear what specifically the spring subpoena was seeking, and whether Trump provided any documents in response to the subpoena, the sources said.

@redredred Trump likes to be a man of the people. Therefore, he will be treated like the people, and if you are holding classified documents from your time as president, possibly about nuclear weapons, you will not be subpoena'd; you will be raided.

Is this how you want to be treated. They knew right where he was and could have served the warrant in a peaceful manner

Yeah sure. Of all the things to lose sleep over in America today, the imminent peril of dozens of FBI agents turning up on my doorstep and finding classified presidential records among my laundry is arguably not one of them.
