Should Biden seek re-election?

Why and why not?

I'm not American. I think that anyone is better than Trump though I'm not sure what the 'average' US voter thinks. If Biden's USP was that he was the most electable, then does that apply anymore?
deadgerbil · 26-30
No. Look at how Biden rigged the election. So much evidence is out there, he doesn't deserve reelection. And he single handily drove up gas prices globally and perpetuated fear over this covid hoax that has leftists collectively shaking in fear, as well as passing out from all this inflation. It's almost as if he wants to lose more voters by 2024 over pocketbook issues, just so he can prove that he can rig another election.

@deadgerbil Is that jeebus doing tRump doggy style in those pictures? 🤪
@deadgerbil I’d love to know how many of those fanatics added you after reading this ? Especially if this is their first time reading your posts ? 😆

Just replace Biden with someone else. He's too soft on the Republicans, doesn't call them out for hating democracy, hating freedom, and using a perverted interpretation of the Bible to justify flagrant tyranny. Besides, the American people are due for a change in leadership with how shitty the past couple years have been. The war in Ukraine is obviously not Biden's fault, nor the inflation, nor the gas prices, but the propaganda has worked and frankly, dissatisfaction drives a hunger for change in any direction at all. The average American's brain is as smooth as a bowling ball.
The dog turd in my back yard is better than trump. I'd vote for it before any crazy right wing extremist they will put up.

Nope, too old.

If 2024 is Biden/Trump again, I'm moving to Ukraine.
monte3 · 70-79, M
@SW-User the south of Portugal is better. 😊
hope not he is a bit old.. i will still vote dem. myself i wanted sanders in office . no one can find something bad on that man..
RedBaron · M
@markansas Only that he would have zero chance of winning a general election.
Ynotisay · M
I don't think he should or will. And that has nothing to do with his performance which I personally think has been excellent. This administration has done so much, in the face of insanity, that people aren't aware of. It's easier to just whine, blame and complain. While I don't think he's an older person who is "out of touch," I do think the rigors of the job are best suited for younger people. Not that's he's dropped the ball yet or spending his term on a freaking golf course. But I do think he still has an element of seeing the role, and government overall, through eyes of things like honor, integrity and serving the people. That's not where the 'other side' is and a little fighting fire with fire might be in order. I think that will be best served by a younger person.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
No.

He's clearly suffering from moderate to severe dementia and its obvious he is being handled, and is not in charge. The man is ill, it's time he retired.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@GermanAf Oh no, that was intentional, HIND-LICK, and I know you got it.

You're not stupid, just indoctrinated.
GermanAf · 26-30, M
@SumKindaMunster i actually didn't get it until now lol

Ah nah. I'm pretty dumb all things considered. I killed enough braincells with drugs to not be a viable target for indoctrination or any advanced degree.

Biden should never have been president, it was fraudulent he won.
He’s a puppet to Obama, they needed him in to get the reset going.

All voting is rigged, we live in a make believe world.

Your votes don’t matter, it’s all corruption.
@Fairydust Do you need the manager of SW?

@Fairydust I mean someone who gave a fuck might tag admin for you if you insist...
Graylight · 51-55, F
The general attitude around me is that he was the decent and necessary choice for America, but he's seen as an interim leader, a bridge from the absolute lunacy that was Trump to a more normalized atmosphere.

There are only two problems with this. 1, The Democrats haven't got anyone in their stables who's ready for the gig and 2, no one counted on conservatives growing even more ignorant; too many of them are already winning primaries, so it looks as if the US, in all its juvenile glory, will trap-door itself into a 2nd Dark Ages.
Ynotisay · M
@Graylight Solid take. But to offer up someone who I personally think is ready for it, both politically and from a place of handling the duties, is Gavin Newsom. As a Californian I think he's the real deal and there's some noise starting to gather around him.
Some will dismiss him out of hand because of where he's from but he can push back on that with some of the realities of his positions and successes. Budget, abortion, environmental, guns, diversity and a lot of the issues that are more important to many than ever before. He's also got big stones in calling out the GOP for what it is. We'll see.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Ynotisay I like him, too, but I'd have to learn more. 300+ million citizens. You'd think there's be one person...
Ynotisay · M
@Graylight Yeah. I think it's getting harder to find that one person. The litmus test for Democrats is different than Republicans. More of a purity test. There's a lot of grievance collectors out there. One of the reasons, in my opinion, we had a President Trump.
I don't think it does, today, at least. Trump has taken major hits recently, and Biden is not the candidate I'd pick to win over DeSantis.

I'm not sure if there is anyone better, mind you.
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@MistyCee Not that it makes a huge difference, but I still wouldn’t bet on DeSantis being the Republican candidate instead of Trump yet.
@Theyitis I hear you and also think that an emergence of other Democratic challenger might even influence who gets the Republican nomination, but between the midterms, economic and foreign policy issues, the 1/6 committed hearings and if when, and how, the DOJ will respond, it seems premature to talk about Biden running again.

He was never really that popular a candidate, his term is only half over, and while I think it's Bs, the fact is, he's tied in to the Anti-Trump Conspiracy that everyone is trying to capitalize on.
Biden wasn't my first choice in 2020; he wouldn't be in 2024 either. The only way Biden looks good to me is in comparison to Trump. I think Biden should bow out gracefully and allow fresh faces to run.
Paladin · 61-69, M
He achieved the one objective I was most concerned with, and that was getting trump out of the White House.
Now he should move on and enjoy his retirement.
LegendofPeza · 56-60, M
I stand to be corrected but didn't he promise when he was running that he would serve one term only ? I can't imagine why he thinks it would be a good idea for him or his party to run again. His numbers now are even worse now than Trump's were !

Some of the grief he gets is unfair , but ffs farting around for two years talking about bipartisanship while Republicans were busy rigging the next election is unforgiveable , as was the pathetic response to the SC overturning Roe. The Afghanistan debaclé also hurt him bad , and if he does stand again then the Republicans will enjoy a clean sweep. With or without Trump , that doesn't bear thinking about.
Carla · 61-69, F
Absolutely not.
He isn't popular and he is far too old.
Old, but still sharp. But too old.
dommagic · M
I don’t think so, not that the prospects are looking any better. I think he’s done an admirable job considering the train wreck the Donald had the country in, maybe he could do better but imo he damn sure couldn’t do worse. I just think they need someone in the office who will stand up to the Republicans better

Biden should not seek re-election. Whether it’s his fault or not, the latest polling data says shows 78% of voters believe America is on the wrong course.
How or who they find to run in 2024 instead of Biden is a big problem
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
I don’t really know, I voted for Warren and would again but I don’t think she’ll run. Biden was a calculated risk, and I’m not even sure he’s going to run again anyway. I was able to have a conversation with Beto when he was running for President he could do the job well, but I don’t know that he can get enough support.
@BackyardShaman Shit I'd do a better job than both Trump and Biden.
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
I can tell! You have my vote, I was considering writing in my cat’s name.@Spunkylama
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
No, the Dems desperately need new leadership in the Executive and in Congress. He was essentially a compromise to defeat Trump. I think much of the criticism against him is unfair, but it's sticking. Time to turn the page..
Wiseacre · F
Of course not...way too old! We need young, fresh blood!
Theyitis · 36-40, M
He shouldn’t and I feel confident that he won’t. He’s too unpopular, couldn’t win. Don’t really know whom the Dems should nominate instead. Buttigieg or Klobuchar would be okay. Don’t know much about this Fetterman guy from Pennsylvania, but it kinda sounds like he might be the next progressive standard bearer, which is whom I want to vote for.
monte3 · 70-79, M
The short answer is no. But options are not plentiful.
I don’t believe his physical and mental
State will be up to it
No. Biden is too conservative.
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
Northwest · M
No. It's not about his age, it's about the need for some fresh blood. There are a number of centrist potential candidates out there, with solid liberal credentials. Gavin Newsom is one of them, and another is Steve Bullock (former Montana Governor).
hunkalove · 61-69, M
I hope Biden realizes he can't be reelected. He is and always has been a worthless piece of garbage. He will be 80 in November, way too old to function as president. He needs to get out of the way. Never forget--we didn't vote for Biden, we voted against Trump.
smiler2012 · 56-60
like you i am a brit and i agree with what you say . if these insurrection of january fourth hearing go against trump should joe run it may be against somebody in the republican party with more morals scruples and not a sore loser [burnley123]
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
I think covid is more popular than Biden. Like I wish nothing but harm to the Democratic Party but I wish MORE harm to Republicans so uh

god I don't know, but I legit think he could lose against Trump in a second contest.
REMsleep · 41-45, F
No Biden is too old and he has been a ditz all his life even before he became mildly senile. He dosen't run anything.
He is not particularly good at anything either. If we truly want the country to improve then Biden is not the guy.
Biden dosen't actually care about anything except just being president.
He has no deeply held conviction.
Loads of better canidates out there.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@REMsleep Well, it seems that most people, regardless of country, do prefer to live in a police state rather than a "free" state. People love being told what to do and what to think. They get upset when they have to make their own decisions. You see it here every day in the comments posters make on the various threads.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@REMsleep You know how old Trump is, right?
@REMsleep
I think that Trump had some very smart people around him and that was the only decent thing he ever did.

Smart people he rarely listened to, because first and foremost they were telling him to get off Twitter !
And he also had a lot of people around him who ended up facing criminal charges. How often does that happen during a presidential administration ? What financial decisions did he actually make for the country ? (Not the ones he simply took credit for, because he did a lot of that.)
beaglehunter · 70-79, M
slow joe should run and run fast until he gets with the people he left those top secret helocopters with

hell no he should seek a team of shrinks FAST
@beaglehunter Meh that is what the left said about trump. Next
beaglehunter · 70-79, M
i am Santa where do you live
@beaglehunter Nurse!
I think the Democrats should be actively looking for someone else. After Trump, nobody better demand that he or she be "perfect", either.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
He's getting pretty old.

Besides Biden and Trump who realistically is in the running,??? Kanye West wouldn't be best.. 😅
