The following is a false equivalency fallacy with no basis in reality:

"Protesters burning down businesses is exactly the same thing as rioters breaking into the Capitol dome to disrupt the counting of democratically obtained votes. It is no different, and I don't consider breaking into a government building to be insurrection, because people broke into personal businesses."

If you cannot grasp that this is a fallacious argument with no basis whatsoever in reality, then you should be stripped of your rights to vote.

If they were both treated the same way, I would agree. But when one side is encouraged, while the other side is prosecuted, there is a problem in position if not the act itself.
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@Roadsterrider i whole-heartedly agree with this. Both were despicable acts and should never have happened. But i cant get over the fact how one of them was praised and encouraged by many. Innocent lives were killed! That shit hurts, man.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@Roadsterrider I agree. Pro Trump Republicans encouraging insurrection makes me physically ill.
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@CorvusBlackthorne at any rate neither of these events shouldve been encouraged or praised. That my opinion as they both are examples of domesric terrorism. We're supposed to value human life; not squander it.

I agree with you! The Capitol rioters should be prosecuted, but so should the protesters around the country! The perception is the protesters are getting away with their crimes, and the media even trying to justify their actions, while overblowing the Capitol rioters. Both groups should be prosecuted!

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Since you were born so seriously handicapped I’ll not waste my time trying once again to explain how libertarian views are not right-wing. But you have your comfortable little fall-back position so, good for you.
@redredred Libertarian is the most bog standard right wing ideology there is. Not my problem you don't know high school level Overton Window shit.

And really classy with your ableist name calling.

Not that you ever present a serious argument about anything.

Would you at least agree both were despicable things?
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
@CorvusBlackthorne I'm glad you agree! More people were murdered during the "peaceful protests" around the country than on 1/6 !

@CorvusBlackthorne That's your opinion. The authorities have to decide what to charge any lawbreakers with. It's too bad that you weren't consulted, they could have used some of your infinite wisdom!
Entwistle · 56-60, M
So because someone doesn't realise something they shouldnt be allowed to vote?
What if someone who thinks that should be barred from voting?
@Entwistle Nope. If you don't want to live in a Democracy, go move to one of the many Dictatorships.
America should ban all openly anti-democratic parties, like Germany does.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@BohemianBabe If I am elected president in 2024, we will.
@CorvusBlackthorne Thank goodness.
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
Of course it has no basis in reality: You wrote it. Even though there are quotation marks, it really isn't a quotation.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@Annie1899 It is a paraphrasing of the argument imbeciles keep using.
GermanAf · 26-30, M
They're honestly pretty similar in terms of shittyness imo, one is just, rightly so, punished more harshly
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@GermanAf I do not say that either is a good way to do things. However, I thank you for understanding that one is objectively worse. That seems to be a difficult distinction to make these days.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
What do you call a unarmed police officer?
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@MarineBob A distraction from my point, and irrelevant to the discussion. If you cannot say anything relevant, then say nothing.
Kind of sad that people are still making this argument.
Unfortunately, stupidity doesn’t make one ineligible to vote. Or even to run for office. Marjorie Taylor Greene certainly wouldn’t be in politics if it did.
DDonde · 31-35, M
They're both bad, but for different reasons and it affects different things

@Driver2 I know. One wouldn't think that needed to be said, but apparently, it did. Even now, other users are disputing that.
