The following is a false equivalency fallacy with no basis in reality:

"Protesters burning down businesses is exactly the same thing as rioters breaking into the Capitol dome to disrupt the counting of democratically obtained votes. It is no different, and I don't consider breaking into a government building to be insurrection, because people broke into personal businesses."

If you cannot grasp that this is a fallacious argument with no basis whatsoever in reality, then you should be stripped of your rights to vote.

Would you at least agree both were despicable things?
@laotzu92 Yes, but the 1/6 riot was much worse. So when people try to compare the two, it's usually a bad faith attempt at downplaying 1/6.

@BohemianBabe er, I didn't ask you. You always give the wrong answer. I asked the poster.
One difference is that the Portland riots went on night after night for months. Second difference: you were unable to get enraged by them despite the harm to innocent people.

You always give the wrong answer.

I'm literally always right. You just can't always accept it.

@BohemianBabe How many fires were set on 1/6, how many stores were looted on 1/6? How many police cars were turned over and set ablaze?
@Roadsterrider Those things don't have to happen for an event to be worse.

@BohemianBabe @BohemianBabe What makes 1/6 worse than looting, arson and violence to any one who doesn't share the opinion of the rioters?
@Roadsterrider 1/6 was caused by one of the two major political parties in America in order to overturn American Democracy. Aside from the fact that people died in that riot, it was part of a bigger effort to turn the country into a fascist state. And on top of all that, the Republicans are now trying to downplay 1/6, in order to normalize fascist violence.

The riots over the murder of George Floyd were bad, but they can't be compared to an insurrection caused by a major political party.

Of course, but that is irrelevant. Dishonest persons insist that they are equivalent.

Theft and murder are both despicable, but murder is objectively worse.

@CorvusBlackthorne I'm glad you agree! More people were murdered during the "peaceful protests" around the country than on 1/6 !

@CorvusBlackthorne That's your opinion. The authorities have to decide what to charge any lawbreakers with. It's too bad that you weren't consulted, they could have used some of your infinite wisdom!
