In Some Cities Gas Costs More Than The Federal Minimum Wage, As Inflation Harms Most Working Americans

Drivers across the United States are feeling the record surge in gas prices that impact the nation’s entire population

In some cities, the cost of a gallon of gas has now surpassed the federal minimum wage, meaning that it takes more than one hour of working to afford a single gallon of gas. While the average cost of gasoline surpassed $4.60 nationwide over the Memorial Day weekend, some cities are seeing much higher prices.

Analysts like Patrick De Haan of Gas Buddy have predicted a continued surge in the cost of gas as we enter the summer months.

And it's everyone else's fault than Biden and the Dems spending $8 trillion dollars - flooding the economy with money and doing nothing to resolve supply chain issues. Biden IS the enemy!

Some geniuses will tell people to carpool, to take public transportation or to buy an electric vehicle. Some are choosing to move away to cities that have better public transportation systems if they have a career that’s in demand in other areas. The system will eventually collapse at this rate.

@cherokeepatti or to inflate their tires... remember that gem?

@cherokeepatti problem for the EV Manufacturers is that only the Rich can buy them. A coworker of mine has a son that works for the local Kia Dealership. They are now offering a 12 year loan with a deposit of $5000 down to buy a EV from them.

@dakotaviper and they are not green either….it takes a half-million tons of dirt to mine enough lithium to manufacture the batteries and the batteries don’t last the lifetime of the car. And electricity to charge up those batteries, electricity that mostly uses natural gas to generate. Imagine how much fuel it takes to run the dozers that mine the lithium dirt.

For me, it's like Covid lockdown that never ends. I like my own company, but it's not good for my health to be trapped here by my financial woes.

I saw that in California, one Quik Mart had gas prices over $8.00.

I agree that Biden is the enemy.

I’ve laid in a large supply of oats for my horse teams. I’m off of gas for the time being.

@jackjjackson Who's laughing now? The Amish of course.
I wonder how long before people are chasing rabbits in the local parks because they are hungry.🤔
On a more personal note, I wonder if I can field strip an entire cow in one night...🤔😅

@cherokeepatti Mighty Mighty hunter of moths!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Say,,,did you hear that school children in Wales are being asked to eat bugs for school lunch programs as part of an experimental food program? 🤣🤣🤣
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou yeah I heard that and you better believe if I was one of those children they would wish they hadn’t even tried. They are violating personal boundaries when they pull this crap and that includes on children. Do they think they have a right to overstep a parent’s teaching to them?
dakotaviper · 56-60, M
@UnderLockDown make sure you buy the cow first. Because in many places throughout the World, Rustling is still punishable by death.

What's funny is that all Inflation is doing is making it more expensive for the poor and the middle class to make ends meet. What's hilarious is that the Democrat Voting Base is mainly the Poor and the Lower Part of the Middle Class. Rich people are not affected by High Prices.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Makes one go hmmmmmmm…….. @dakotaviper
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@dakotaviper Don’t expect the Dems in power to think too deeply about the scenario they’ve created.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Except as to how they my benefit from it even more. @cherokeepatti

Just one word: Midterms

jackjjackson · 61-69, M

Hong Kong is seeing gas prices around $11/gallon. Central African Republic around $10. Iceland and Greece are at about $8.70/gallon.

Damn that Biden, he's fucking up everyone's shit. 😆

@ViciDraco When one of the worlds largest producers of petroleum intentionally goes off line by a great deal and spends its way into near record inflation, yes it has impact beyond its borders.
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
That didn't make sense+. Conservative economists have begun shrinking US buying power as a remedy to inflation. Wages are shrinking, because they're not rising to keep up with the cost of the daily commute. The plan is to crack down harder-. The buying power has to go down, to shrink inflation.
The Biden administration are trying to spin the situation as if current inflation levels are okay given the economic expansion, which is mostly just inflation.
