Naturally, Pretzel doesn't have a complete thought.
So, are you implying that conservatives are banning books?
The CRT ones? The Billy Gets A Blow job books?
Or, the ones the woke left cancelled like Classic Western literature, from Homer to Shakespeare, Mark Twain and even Harper Lee.

Instead of spending time on reading, writing, math, science, history and geography, we spend our time on bullshit like Critical Race Theory and LGBTQRSTXYZ+÷=/ issues.
Compared to developed countries, the US public school system is mediocre at best. We do a below average job of educating children despute spending more money per child that all other countries.
There are decades of data showing these outcomes.
Let's find a way to do a better job educating children.

@basilfawlty89 So because you believe a book should be used in schools, that's a good enough reason.
My don't we have a high opinion of ourselves.

@HoraceGreenley The truth is hard to handle sometimes. Still true…

@Quetzalcoatlus Fine, but my original point still stands. Despite spending more money per child, the US public school's do a below average job of educating children.
These facts are indisputable.
So tell me how spending time on social issues of any kind, rectifies these deficiencies?

Funny how everyone who banned books (Ayatollahs, Stalin, 20th century fascists) is on history's shit list.
Banning books is a good way to lose a cultural battle.

@SW-User But in the good old days, before the printing press you could just call libs witches or Jews and burn them at the stake.
That's where MAGA wants to go.

The part that always plays bongos with my balls is that they claim to be for free speech and against censorship...then ban books.
To play devil's advocate here, most books are post-enlightenment and contain dangerous ideas that might make people think for themselves and not be happy toiling away for their masters, burning witches and infidels, and the like.
Obviously there are exceptions, but a lot of what passes for conservatism these days is reactionary and more aimed at taking us back past Guttenberg and the Enlightenment.

Only books? You forgot leggings, critical race theory, Disney, the word "gay", uteruses, birth control, and of course, doors...
TheRascallyOne · 31-35, M
We don't ban books
@TheRascallyOne BOOKS ARE BANNED EVERYWHERE. Children need to read these books to see what the world should not be like. They need to know what we thought was normal in the old days.
i hate that they are removing all those statues in DC and such. They need to be moved to a specific place so that children can learn that even though these were great men in some ways, they had alot of issues. our founding fathers were great men. all of them. but they were the men of a certain time. They owned slaves. they cheated people. they went against their leaders....blah blah blah.
that doesn't mean that they didn't do great things. It should all be explained to the youth so that they make an informed decision.
