Do you think ..

Do you think republicans would be okay w gun reform if it was tied to immigration reform ?
Do you think democrats would support immigration reform if it was tied to gun reform ?
Budwick · 70-79, M
Do you think Congress and Senate and White House would like to support our Constitution?
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@Budwick This 100%. Unfortunately the left has been trying to dismantle it for quite some time, since it gets in the way of their agenda. Thankfully the major threat to free speech has been squashed (The Ministry of Truth). We must be vigilant as Patriots.
BlueVeins · 22-25
no lol, absolutely not on either count. Gun reform is more important to Republicans than immigration reform is, and immigration reform is more important to Democrats than gun reform is.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@BlueVeins that’s exactly what I meant . Would republicans give in on guns if they got what they wanted on immigration and visa versa.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
Since democrats are so intent on redefining the 2nd Amendment to exclude rights/guns they don't like; perhaps we should redefine the 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th, and 9th to exclude people we don't like... like liberals...
dakotaviper · 56-60, M
No. Because what you continue to fail to realize that there is this pesky thing called the US Constitution with the item called the 2nd Amendment that you must adhere to. Oh and to get rid of that pesky Constitutional Amendment, you have to put it on the Ballot to be voted on with 2 thirds of the US Population agreeing to get rid of it. Biden will be committing High Treason if he tries to get rid of it by his 'Executive Order'. So continue to bluster about this and see what happens. Because taking my Rights away from me also means that your Rights are gone too.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@dakotaviper there's also that pesky sentence in the declaration that prevents that sort of tyranny...

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."
Owning a gun is a right. Crossing the border into the US illegally is a crime. I would not give up a constitutional right (2A) in order for democrats to enforce the law.
redredred · M
There’s no need to reform either just live with and enforce the laws on the books
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Do you know any politicians of either party that thinks?
GerOttman · 61-69, M
I don't think nobody'e going to support nuthin! everyone is dug deep into their own rhetorical bunkers and too busy throwing snarky hand grenades at each other.
Lostpoet · M
No. I think the party lines for years now has been tell everyone you want bipartisanism but never actually change the parties line on important factors.

I'm for immigration as long as we have an easy process in which we can decide if in a small way on if the person is good enough of a person to be accepted into America. I've never worked with Mexican and thought he didn't deserve a paycheck as much as I did. They have all been very nice and hard working people.

I'm afraid that the left is trying to take our guns away because they don't want any backlash for their actions and they want to run things like a dictatorship.
redredred · M
So we’re being asked to give up a fundamental right in exchange for a promise that the authorities will start enforcing a decades old set of laws that should have been enforced all along.

Such a deal!!
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@redredred dude I’m not looking to argue. There’s many precedents where freedoms were curtailed .
In the 1800’s you could injest ANYTHING you wanted until we became a nation of morphine and opium addicts.
Then drugs became illegal and you could no longer legally injest anything you wanted to .
I meant a sensible compromise like where people could still own and buy guns , but with certain caveats like a mental health check .
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@redredred LoL. Immigration really is a right. Not guns.

Sounds perfect for the Dems to advance+ Sell the human rights immigrants have for safety, giving up a pretend right and denial of a real one. The coherent position protects all human rights.
SmoothKnight · 51-55, M
Depends on ones definition of gun reform and immigration reform, I would think.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@SmoothKnight for arguments sake let’s say a sensible compromise.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Which Republicans and which Democrats. I believe the polls overwhelmingly support BOTH!
