Margaret Thatcher

Her statue was put up today in secret but was still pelted with eggs within 2 hours !!! She still divide’s the country !!

She helped close down the coal mines too early, new jobs could of been brought into those coal mining areas instead those Miners were put on the scrap heap all the Miners wanted was their jobs, those areas have never recovered, a very intelligent woman who simply made a mistake which cannot be forgotten.

Poll Tax didn't go down that well either being Prime Minister is a hot potato she had a good run.

@GeniUs I'm sure t @GeniUs @GeniUs Maggie won't be the last politian that lets you down I haven't taken them seriously for years obviously some are better than others and some do really work hard.
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@senghenyddA horrible situation; voting for the person you think is least corrupt.
Edit: She wasn't Prescott really got my goat too.
senghenydd · M
@GeniUs I haven't a great opinion of Politicians.
smiler2012 · 56-60
yes i saw this story in one of the sunday papers even after her death her legacy still haunts her hence the attack with eggs .what i thought was funny and ironic they had a rope around the neck of thatchers statue to position it . i sort of chuckled to myself at the thought of the rope around her neck thinking it should of happened when she was around .cannot wait until the birds join in there disdain of thatcher and start too show there true feeling of the iron lady [barny52]

"When I left you I was the learner and you the teacher."
"Only a master of evil, Thatcher."
senghenydd · M

GeniUs · 56-60, M
@senghenydd Wow! You met truly the greatest man ever in the UK one of those people who you automatically call 'sir'.
senghenydd · M
@GeniUs Nye was also the Member of Parliament for Tredegar which isn't too far from where I live my Grandfather was an Ex Miner and life long Labour suporter of the Labour movement Nye came to see my Grandfather it was great meeting him there.

Waste of good eggs. It should be shit that's thrown at it. It needs pulling down asap.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
It's more apt that even the egg throwers know.

Her legacy was to remake a social-democratic European country into a neoliberal one. Her legacy is not just an old story but ts set the basis for the present we all live in.

Financialisation, de-unionisation, wealth inequality and housing crisis are direct results of her legacy. Much as the NHS was Atlee's
Yes...I really did hate that woman.
I came on the job market when she had been in power for a year.
Took me two years to get a job!
Entwistle · 56-60, M
I hope it gets egged, paintbomved, pulled down and then thrown down a disused mineshaft.
I remember the song "Ding-Dong! The Witch is Dead" shooting up the charts almost as soon as her death was announced. What a co-incidence. 😘
@smiler2012 She was a strong leader, up there with the likes of Atilla the Hun; Genghis Khan; Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. We don't need to condone their policies to recognize their strength.
smiler2012 · 56-60
@NortiusMaximus maybe strong characters but all with rather brutal policies that severly effected others
@smiler2012 I agree.
Elessar · 26-30, M
I read it on the news earlier and was like "huh, seriously, what did they expect?"
Barny52 · 56-60, M
@Elessar its been ready since long before first lockdown but Grantham started thinking twice
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@Barny52 Grantham <less than an hour away> I can take requests to do this...
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Awesome news!
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
if they put up a Karl Marx or Vladimir Lenin statue, the woketards would probably cheer...
Barny52 · 56-60, M
It’s had red paint splattered on it now , won’t be the last time !!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
The only thing that would make this story better was if those eggs were rotten eggs.
Barny52 · 56-60, M
@cherokeepatti wouldn’t of put it up in a ex mining community
Carissimi · F
Just the Woke idiots.
LegendofPeza · 56-60, M
@Carissimi Who might they be then ? Can you give me some kind of definition ?
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@Carissimi Nope this isn't about woke she's been hated since her reign of terror ravaged the UK.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@GeniUs True enough but don't let that statue distract you from what is going on now. The right to buy is still in place and about to be extended: https://www.express.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/1608172/right-to-buy-poll-results-housing-association-scheme-boris-johnson-spt
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
I dont think it matters whis statue it is people will always want to be against something.
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
@GeniUs Drastic times needed Drastic measures the country at the time was going down fast, she actually saved the UK and turned it around. The UK was dealing with a high currency and outdated methods, other countries were taking advantage.
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@Justenjoyit So getting in bed (and I'm not agreeing with you about how bad it was) with racists and destroying (irritating) parts of your own country whilst breaking the law, was the way ahead? The only reason she survived a first term was that The Falklands War created a surge of nationalism.
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
@GeniUs I am English by the way I saw what the UK needed after the decline in the 70s.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Everything I've read about her and seen on TV tells me she deserved to have that happen while she was alive.
