Thank God it's finally here! Microsoft has added a "wokeness" checker in Microsoft Word.

In an apparent attempt to inculcate “woke” language into the verbiage of hundreds of millions of people, Microsoft has developed an [c=BF0000]“inclusiveness” checker [/c]in its Word software that would highlight phrases that might offend others.

Legendary astronaut Neil Armstrong’s famed words upon landing on the moon in which he lauded [c=BF0000]“one giant leap for mankind”[/c] could be altered to [c=BF0000]“humankind” or “humanity.”[/c] Pop singer Barry Manilow’s hit “Copacabana,” in which Manilow sang of Lola the [c=BF0000]“showgirl”[/c] could be altered to [c=BF0000]“dancer,”[/c] [c=BF0000]“performer,” or “performing artist.”[/c]

Referring to the former Prime Minister of Great Britain, Margaret Thatcher, as [c=BF0000]“Mrs. Thatcher”[/c] could be replaced by [c=BF0000]“Ms. Thatcher.”[/c] [c=BF0000]“Postman Pat”[/c] could be changed to [c=BF0000]“mail carrier” or “postal worker.” [/c][c=BF0000]“Headmaster”[/c] becomes [c=BF0000]“Principal,”[/c] [c=BF0000]“mistress”[/c] becomes [c=BF0000]“lover,” [/c][c=BF0000]“master”[/c] becomes [c=BF0000]“expert,”[/c] [c=BF0000]“manpower”[/c] becomes [c=BF0000]“workforce,”[/c] and [c=BF0000]“heroine” [/c]becomes [c=BF0000]“hero,”[/c] among other changes reported by The Sun.

Anyone that's woke deserves getting their feelings hurt.

@ron122

I agree.

This might be a good thing though honestly. It will give people a chance to re-imagine ways to be insulting.

Well like this - cigarettes are no longer allowed to call their various products things like "Marlboro Lights/ultra light" so what did they do? They are now Marlboro Gold.

One of my fav cigs - Tourney slim light 120 are now Tourney slim Rose 120. To me that sounds sexier than "lights".

PLUS, good folks, sometimes using the "woke" terms is more snarky anyways.

For example, did "a hood rat just give birth to another future criminal" OR did "A less fortunate woman give birth to another exciting challenge for the tax payers".

See how much nicer that sounds? :D

Thank you MS for presenting a product that will decrease stress for the snow crystals.

@JimBeam that is the type of thing you would hear on David Letterperson

@CestManan

Or Wonderperson
CestManan · 46-50, F
@JimBeam so when a male is very manly do we need to start saying he is personly?

Time to uninstall the woke dictionary
JimBeam · M
@MasterLee

I no longer use a Windows machine, so I won't have to worry about it.

ikr I logged in to Teams and I was asked to select my pronouns, it felt so stupid like why should a professor give a f about that?!

@SW-User

The best I can figure is that people are going out of their way to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

My Windows PC, which I turn on maybe once a month recently performed a system check to determine if it would be able to run Windows 11. Alas my chip set is too old. Whoa is me. I’ll just have to go full Mac now.
I’m glad it works well for you. For me when it comes to operating systems I trust in regards to privacy practices, I have zero trust in Google. Windows is almost as bad when it comes to selling you out wholesale. And no, I do not fully trust Apple. I just mistrust them a little less than the other two. @JimBeam

@stratosranger

I understand completely. I don't trust any of them either, but what can you do?

I have an Android phone (Android owned by Google), and one day it told me how long it would take me to get to work. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but then it hit me.........how the fuck does it know where I work? I realize they track you but how did it know the difference between home and work?

I just figured that because I'm at home more than work, it just used common sense.

But I started getting Gmails telling me that a certain bill is due in a few days. How does it know that?

If I so much as Google a hardware store, the results will tell me that I was there in March of 2018!

If I walk into a Walmart store, my phone will tell me what's on sale!

So I get what you're saying, but I don't know what else to do. The convenience of technology makes it all seem worth it.

But if you have a desktop or laptop with a DVD drive, you might want to consider installing Linux.

Linux is free and you can dump all the other major players.

(You can also install it via a thumb-drive, but I've never done that. )

Maybe you know about Linux or maybe not, but go for a version of Ubuntu. It's the most user friendly of the hundreds of free distributions of Linux.

If your machine is older, then go for Lubuntu.

@JimBeam That is utterly creepy! Most of the tracking on my phone is turned off unless I require navigation. Apple recently added a feature where the device now tracks the apps! Nice reversal there. You can now monitor what your apps are doing, when they’re doing it, what they’re doing and options on what you can do to control the flow of data. It has quite a few app developers pretty P.O’d. I will take a peek at Linux. Thanks for the suggestion.
