He probably owns a shitload of pharmaceutical stock. No big fucking mystery there
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Graylight Agreed: But it is a concern to me on a number of levels. First, that assuming them not to be trolls looking for attention (which could well be my error) I actually invest keystrokes responding to such trash. And second, if I am correct, these people cant tell the difference between a school yard argument over who is the best pop star and having a say in electing the leader of a major nation. Its all about them and a tribal response.😷
Graylight · 51-55, F
@whowasthatmaskedman I happened to agree with you, and it's got me thinking if there are wiser areas in the world. We're not interested in doing anything for our own good right now.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Graylight I live in one. But only on average. We have individuals every bit as squirrel rabid as Texas and Florida Republicans, and as anti vax as some of the tin foil hat brigade. Just way less of them per cubic metre than America and we throw them out of government or sideline them. Not invite them to run things.😷

QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@BalladOfADeadSoulja None of that happened lmao. Take the tinfoil off.
@QuixoticSoul lol one of those types are you?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@BalladOfADeadSoulja One of the seemingly few who haven’t memed themselves into complete stupor, yes - none of that nonesense happened, snap out of it before it’s too late.
curiosi · 61-69, F
He thinks the world is over populated and vaccines are the way to depopulate.

His foundation has killed and maimed many in India and Africa. India threw him out of the country.
Northwest · M
The Gates foundation pledged $3.5B toward vaccinating the poor around the world. His foundation has already saved hundred of thousands of lives in Africa using low-level prevention measures.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Northwest I challenge the dickwit who thumbed that down to speak up.
@LordShadowfire Not happening. The downvote is the tool of cowards. 😒
PrincessAwesome · 22-25, F
Don't know, but I'm glad he is. It's causing Conservatives to refuse the vaccine, which is always a good thing.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@LordShadowfire And cancer from smoking
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@MrBrownstone Are you done being a little shit?
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@LordShadowfire Not till you get all the facts out. Not just your narrative
Gates is also a philanthropist. He’s donated millions to all kinds of charities that fight diseases. For some reason certain folks have made him a boogeyman, but it doesn’t change that.
@LordShadowfire I understand, but he could be putting money solely into groups that do nothing for public health and safety. And he’d be clear legally, and still be receiving tax breaks. I’m not sure where the recent conspiracy theories about him have come from. It’s as if when people don’t have any solid “dirt”, they’re happy to make something up.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@bijouxbroussard I agree.
Northwest · M
@LordShadowfire
Part of the reason for that is that back in the 90s, he was sued under monopoly laws, and rightly so.

That has nothing to do with it. Microsoft was sued by the government, and the government won. Verdict was announced on April 3, 2000, causing the 7 year bubble buildup to burst. I agree, Microsoft violated anti-trust laws.

At the end though, the decision to break the company down into at least two companies, was not carried out and an eventual settlement was reached.

Earlier in his career, he was asked why he was not too involved in philanthropy, and his answer was that it's a very complex issue, and people make huge mistakes when they simply dump money on the problem. His decision was to extract himself from Microsoft, so he can focus on studying the problem and then executing a plan, that evolved into the Gates Foundation.

The web site has a lot of information: https://www.gatesfoundation.org/
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
He's the co-founder of the second largest humanitarian organization in the world. He's pledged billions of dollars towards helping people around the world. He talks about pandemic and vaccines because they directly impact people, and in particular poor people which are his main area of focus.

It's not the only thing that he talks about, it's just the only thing self-appointed virologists on social media pay attention to
SW-User
He's a person of influence and a citizen of the world and it's the biggest news across the globe. Why would he not talk about it? It would be more weird if he talked about The Simpsons.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Gates is not a Tech guy.. Thats just how he made his money. Gates is a MONEY guy. And he spends a lot of it on third world diseases like Malaria..😷
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@whowasthatmaskedman I saw a Netflix special about a toilet he invented to be used in places where there were no sewers. It's literally its own sewage processing system. He invented it to solve the problem of third world countries having no sewage systems.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire The Gates foundation is focused onremoving disease from the Third world. Thats EXACTLY the kind of thing thst holds a society back from developing. Getting the basic necessities of good health. Now I am not worried if this includes his vision of a lower world population. The American Military have been working on that one for decades and no one seems to mind. And I am sure Gates isnt planning to shoot or bomb them.😷
People here don’t have any expertise in this area neither, and they never shut up about it.
@SirenCalledLuce Lol, that’s certainly true. 😅
Graylight · 51-55, F
Yeah, the GPS+ chip.

He runs a charitable foundation that's involved in research in different disciplines all over the world. The pandemic affected everyone, including him. He saw that he's in a position to help, and that's what he's done. No need for the conspiracy police on this one.
I’ll take invested interests and financial stakes in viruses and vaccines for $2000 Alex.

Isn’t it funny how all the ppl into earth depopulation and who funded every war for 200 years. Are overnight going to save 7 billion ppl from Covid..

And he did such a bang up job with viruses on his Microsoft huh?

Lolz..

Viruses are uploaded and created so you can sell an anti virus..

See how that works..

Because people think he is smart
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@RedBaron You have a very hard time answering questions. I’m not dealing with you.
RedBaron · M
@MrBrownstone And you have an even harder time understanding and comprehending. Funny thing is that you call yourself Mr. Brownstone, but I own three of them, and even a building is smarter than you! 😂😂
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@RedBaron It’s the name of a song dumb dumb
Rumor has it that he wanted to compensate for his parents' unfulfilled wish of becoming a doctor.
RedBaron · M
@SoulKey Why would he need to compensate for his parents not becoming doctors?
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
Hey, I'm running low on tinfoil hats. Can you send me some?
RedBaron · M
You should ask him.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
I think he's a piece of shit but dude has been focused on infectious disease philanthropy rather than tech for almost 20 years.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Eeeeh it varies. I think he's a lot less of a good guy than people believe he is.

That said he's also not some conspiracy mastermind trying to destroy the human race with vaccines.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@CountScrofula In other words, he's an ordinary guy who figured out charity work can be a moneymaker and also good press.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire I could go with "Cynical much?" But lets not be churlish and instead reflect on what otehr supposedly rich people might learn that lesson.. 😷
SpaceJesus · 41-45
Bah. I don't watch tv. I wouldn't know
hunkalove · 61-69, M
He's a greedy nerd. Probably something in it for him.
@hunkalove Are you kidding ? He could keep the billions he already has if he were greedy. Even the tax breaks wouldn’t make a difference.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Or maybe he, like I, cares about the huge number of people dying, and wants to help people understand why it's happening, so maybe we can stop all the deaths. Jesus fuck, you people would make a conspiracy theory out of anything at this point.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@LordShadowfire How will I ever live with you blocked?
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@MrBrownstone I don't know, maybe you could learn how to be a human being?
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@LordShadowfire So you are against banning cigarettes. Which causes slow deaths. Got it
strongbow · 46-50, M
Because he's had an agenda for a long time now
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@strongbow According to a tabloid so terrible they shut it down.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@LordShadowfire According to that tabloid, Bill would rather the planet’s population grow to 8 billion instead of 9 billion.

Oh no, muh depopulation 🤣
Northwest · M
@QuixoticSoul
According to that tabloid, Bill would rather the planet’s population grow to 8 billion instead of 9 billion.

Admit-tingly, decades ago, he favored spending a lot of money educating people on birth control, and the effects of overpopulation on the planet. But that did not last long. As his foundation did more research, they discovered that when you improve the standard of living of HEALTHY adults, they reproduce less.

So, that became the focus of the foundation. Part of the reason he put more money into Covid than the Trump administration did, or the German government for that matter (talking about the money Moderna and Pfizer received for developing the vaccine).

And there is absolutely no truth to the sterilization through vaccination program. And of course as you mentioned, he was never kicked out of any countries. The opposite is true.
