@Graylight Agreed: But it is a concern to me on a number of levels. First, that assuming them not to be trolls looking for attention (which could well be my error) I actually invest keystrokes responding to such trash. And second, if I am correct, these people cant tell the difference between a school yard argument over who is the best pop star and having a say in electing the leader of a major nation. Its all about them and a tribal response.😷
@whowasthatmaskedman I happened to agree with you, and it's got me thinking if there are wiser areas in the world. We're not interested in doing anything for our own good right now.
@Graylight I live in one. But only on average. We have individuals every bit as squirrel rabid as Texas and Florida Republicans, and as anti vax as some of the tin foil hat brigade. Just way less of them per cubic metre than America and we throw them out of government or sideline them. Not invite them to run things.😷
@BalladOfADeadSoulja One of the seemingly few who haven’t memed themselves into complete stupor, yes - none of that nonesense happened, snap out of it before it’s too late.
The Gates foundation pledged $3.5B toward vaccinating the poor around the world. His foundation has already saved hundred of thousands of lives in Africa using low-level prevention measures.
Gates is also a philanthropist. He’s donated millions to all kinds of charities that fight diseases. For some reason certain folks have made him a boogeyman, but it doesn’t change that.
@LordShadowfire I understand, but he could be putting money solely into groups that do nothing for public health and safety. And he’d be clear legally, and still be receiving tax breaks. I’m not sure where the recent conspiracy theories about him have come from. It’s as if when people don’t have any solid “dirt”, they’re happy to make something up.
Part of the reason for that is that back in the 90s, he was sued under monopoly laws, and rightly so.
That has nothing to do with it. Microsoft was sued by the government, and the government won. Verdict was announced on April 3, 2000, causing the 7 year bubble buildup to burst. I agree, Microsoft violated anti-trust laws.
At the end though, the decision to break the company down into at least two companies, was not carried out and an eventual settlement was reached.
Earlier in his career, he was asked why he was not too involved in philanthropy, and his answer was that it's a very complex issue, and people make huge mistakes when they simply dump money on the problem. His decision was to extract himself from Microsoft, so he can focus on studying the problem and then executing a plan, that evolved into the Gates Foundation.
The web site has a lot of information: https://www.gatesfoundation.org/
He's the co-founder of the second largest humanitarian organization in the world. He's pledged billions of dollars towards helping people around the world. He talks about pandemic and vaccines because they directly impact people, and in particular poor people which are his main area of focus.
It's not the only thing that he talks about, it's just the only thing self-appointed virologists on social media pay attention to
SW-User
He's a person of influence and a citizen of the world and it's the biggest news across the globe. Why would he not talk about it? It would be more weird if he talked about The Simpsons.
@whowasthatmaskedman I saw a Netflix special about a toilet he invented to be used in places where there were no sewers. It's literally its own sewage processing system. He invented it to solve the problem of third world countries having no sewage systems.
@LordShadowfire The Gates foundation is focused onremoving disease from the Third world. Thats EXACTLY the kind of thing thst holds a society back from developing. Getting the basic necessities of good health. Now I am not worried if this includes his vision of a lower world population. The American Military have been working on that one for decades and no one seems to mind. And I am sure Gates isnt planning to shoot or bomb them.😷
He runs a charitable foundation that's involved in research in different disciplines all over the world. The pandemic affected everyone, including him. He saw that he's in a position to help, and that's what he's done. No need for the conspiracy police on this one.
@MrBrownstone And you have an even harder time understanding and comprehending. Funny thing is that you call yourself Mr. Brownstone, but I own three of them, and even a building is smarter than you! 😂😂
@LordShadowfire I could go with "Cynical much?" But lets not be churlish and instead reflect on what otehr supposedly rich people might learn that lesson.. 😷
Or maybe he, like I, cares about the huge number of people dying, and wants to help people understand why it's happening, so maybe we can stop all the deaths. Jesus fuck, you people would make a conspiracy theory out of anything at this point.
According to that tabloid, Bill would rather the planet’s population grow to 8 billion instead of 9 billion.
Admit-tingly, decades ago, he favored spending a lot of money educating people on birth control, and the effects of overpopulation on the planet. But that did not last long. As his foundation did more research, they discovered that when you improve the standard of living of HEALTHY adults, they reproduce less.
So, that became the focus of the foundation. Part of the reason he put more money into Covid than the Trump administration did, or the German government for that matter (talking about the money Moderna and Pfizer received for developing the vaccine).
And there is absolutely no truth to the sterilization through vaccination program. And of course as you mentioned, he was never kicked out of any countries. The opposite is true.
