DYK .... the GOP is actually a 'big tent party' who 'embrace free thought and debate' ?
......so sayeth House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. But evidently that debate doesn't extend as far as challenging Donald Trump's lies about a stolen election.
Do these clowns really imagine that this will prove to be a winning formula in the long term ?
@Carla But what happens when the next general election comes around ? Trump , or whoever the anointed one might be , will presumably still be repeating this nonsense.
@LegendofPeza maybe. They do need an excuse to keep making it more difficult for marginalized people to vote. They've said themselves that they cannot win otherwise.
In the very narrow minds of the right leaning citizenry, that works. If democrats win, they must have cheated and are illegitimate. If Republicans win, they can claim that there are more conservatives than liberals, and the nation must bend to the will of "the anointed one". They seem to be okay with demagoguery. The "Republicans" on the hill care about nothing more than lining their and their donors pockets. The cult are simply tools to get there. Sad, sad state of affairs.
They are hoping for solidarity in the belief it was a joke.
The problem of the 20% of Republicans out of the 70% that believe the election was valid doesn't phase them, because they hope conservative values will swing them.
I suppose they really do think it..or they really just know that they are the ones actually cheating and will again believe their cheating tactics will work.
They think the voting public is as stupid as they are... and "the base." Maybe someone will give Kevin McCarthy a silver bowl award he can hold in his hands to easily make him think he achieved something.
