Sounds like Biden is turning what was a PR stunt into an actual achievable policy objective.

I love it when this kinda thing happens and people twist themselves in knots trying to portray themselves as consistent or just run away from not entirely

Interesting.
If you look beyond it, i wonder if this is an attempt to boost sales at home and at the same time hammering those companies that benefit from it paying their fair share of taxes

I buy products based on quality. If it is good quality and made in America at a reasonable price sure. If it is the same from another country sure too.

It's not the same move, though, is it? Trump's agenda on the American economy and the industries that fuel it were based on bias, on arrogance and on short-sighted vision. There's nothing wrong at all with "Buy American" except the higher prices. We should celebrate what this country can do. We should not close borders to trade, violate agreements, tariff others so as to hurt our own laborers and dictate to the world that the US has no need of things from the outside.
The difference is subtle but it's there.

As a leftist who voted for Biden, this doesn't change anything for me. Unless the workers' best interest is going to be put on the forefront with the ability to unionize and receive fair treatment from the corporations, it doesn't really matter. Biden isn't as far left as the right paints him to be. That's giving him too much credit.

@BigAssLeech I agree largely with this, but I am also a Biden voting leftist. The whole democrat party is not as far left as the right paints them to be.

A lot of reasonable ideas come down to motive and presentation, too. Selling and buying American goods makes sense to help our economy. Keeping US businesses at home means more jobs here. But telling us we’re doing it because the rest of the world is awful and trying to screw us is counter-productive.

I did not really have strong feelings about this before, and do not really have them now. Manufacturers that return to the US tend to have a piddly amount of jobs because they lean hard into automation. I mean, it seems nice in theory but in practice not so much.
An additional note is that this does increase government spending. One company went out and made an identical of their product purely in the USA. Same product, over $1000 more expensive to get the made in USA one. https://shop.puri.sm/
Trust me, those aren't labor costs raising the price like that. It is largely material sourcing, and likely a bit of padding to make up for an expected lower sales volume.
