If the U.S. returns to the Nuclear deal with Iran...

Do you think returning to the Nuclear deal with Iran by a Biden Administration will be a good move or not?
helenS · 36-40, F
I believe that only a big change in Iran can really improve things, so we (= the West) will have to create conditions where changes are more likely to occur. We have to support progressive forces in Iran, and the cancellation of the nuclear deal by the US was a step in the wrong direction.
helenS · 36-40, F
@wildbill83 That picture is only appropriate – sometimes we have to bite into a sour apple, so to speak. Nobody is under any illusions about the character of the Iranian autocracy. There are millions of people in Iran who hate the regime, and the question is: how can we help them? Sanctions will lead to closing ranks around the horrible regime.
@helenS we=(the west) has never really cared for the Iranian people. It is evident in the history, Iran was used a means to get and protect from each, Russia, British Empire and French's, they all used it.

The discovery of oil made Iran a strategic location for Britten, especially during WW1 and WW2. They did not and still do not give a shit about the Iranian people. As long as they get cheap oil and gas and are able to sell their products back to Iran to keep their factories running.

We (the west) are truly selfish and opportunist capitalist's. We are engaged in dirty games and politics, divide and rule. Who the fuck are we dictate, we are the biggest hypocrites. We shake hands and get in bed with most ruthless dictators when its comes to support jobs and politics at home while preaching for democracy. It is nothing but a pile of horse shit.

@aaaabbbb Another one with a hammer and sickle tatooed on their ass. Amusing

The unilateral moves taken by Trump/Pompeo, on behalf of the Evangelicals and Netanyahu, as well as Iran's continued meddling in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Iraq, mean the US, Russia, China, France and Germany coalition will have to negotiate a new deal with Iran.

We wouldn't have been in such a bad situation today, had it not for the reckless Pompeo/Trump actions, but it is what it is, and the Biden team has its work cut out for it.

A deal will also be shaped by the nature of the new Israeli government, and there will be a new Israeli government, because the Israeli Knesset voted to dissolve itself.

@RodionRomanovitch
There is still a left in Israel ? You could have fooled me.
Surprise. There is a left in Israel, and surprisingly it has media outlets as well. Netanyahu just lost the vote to keep his position and the Knesset voted to dissolve itself.

@Northwest How do you see it turning out for Bibi ? Will he ever see the inside of a courtroom , or even jail ?

His margin is thin, and no "partner" is going to agree to work with him, after they've seen what happened to Gantz. But, like Trump, he's not afraid to lie, lie again and then lie some more. And like Trump he is going to pull all the stops to remain relevant.

He is going to be tried. Israel's politics are even harsher than the US, and even his allies will allow it to go that far, so they can hold support over his head to extract a political reward.
Bye bye historic peace deals and troop withdrawal.
Hello proxy wars, puppet dictators.
The noecons and the pentagon just got a stiffy
Mikemcneil · 61-69, M
Trump spent his entire presidency taking a wrecking ball to the achievements of the previous administration. He provided no better alternatives. The Paris Accord withdrawal in particular was pathetic.Sucking up to Israel was another failure of foreign policy. The rest of the world is still involved in trying to get a positive influence on Iran. Trump only last month touted a strategic attack on Iran for no good reason at all.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
I don't know why people think Iran is such a threat...

Even Saddam beat the shit out of Iran in the Iraq-Iran war... and we kicked the shit out of Iraq in 91/desert storm.

Their military is a joke, they're still using 50 year old early cold war era technology (their best stuff is obsolete stuff we/the US sold to them in the 70's-80's); a single US carrier task force has more firepower than their entire military combined...

We shouldn't be cutting deals with their corrupt treacherous government; we should take them all out like we did with soleimani and let the people (who for the most part, are descent and pro-western) regain control...
@wildbill83 Iran cause chaos when they got spare cash.. the last 4 years. Quiet as a church mouse.. I’m pretty sure they Fed solimani to the yanks for relief on tariffs.. no incidents..
why? No cash
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout ikr? their last threat/attack didn't work out so well... fire a bunch of missiles at us which we shot down... spare for one, which took out a plane on their own airport full of Iranians and Canadians... 🤣
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
@wildbill83 176 innocent people died. How is that funny?

Yes. The deal would prevent Iran from making nuclear weapons
LoveTriumphsOverHate · 36-40, M
@cherokeepatti China has never sought to take over the world. That was Great Britain, Germany, and the US of A.
LoveTriumphsOverHate · 36-40, M
@SW-User Not for their missiles, for energy. A nuclear warhead takes uranium enrichment levels of 80%-90%, Iran levels are well below that, at 4.5%
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@LoveTriumphsOverHate bull crap they want the entire world to become their empire and countries are starting to wake up.
It can't, IMO, hurt to try and start over with all the foreign policy nightmares Trump has delivered.

Having said that, this one is complicated and will involve a lot more than just the US and Iran.

I'm just hoping that putting professionals at work on foreign relations will do better than letting amateurs run amuck with input from the nuts who have some semblance of experience and yet were willing to serve Trump.

@PainfulTruth hilarious. It's sad that people actually think like that. Sad losers.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
Anything that pushes Israel's nose out is fine by me.
LoveTriumphsOverHate · 36-40, M
@RodionRomanovitch Israel needs to stop. They're not looking for peace. They're looking for a war.
LoveTriumphsOverHate · 36-40, M
Despite iran's uranium stockpile, they are a long way off from the enrichment levels needed to build nuclear weapons. Theyre not trying to build nuclear weapons, they're using it for energy. With Trump out of office, yes, Iran will take the deal because it helps their economy. If they wanted to build a nuclear weapon, they would have already done so.
JoePourMan · 61-69, M
It will quite likely to lead to a middle east armed conflict
LoveTriumphsOverHate · 36-40, M
@saragoodtimes We shall see
@JoePourMan and they'll do it with Trumps blessing
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Good idea because they are moving ahead with their nuclear development ever since Hidin' Sleepy Loser Baby-trump pulled out.
Human1000 · M
I don't think Iran would ever "trust" the US again. Why would they? This is why Israel murdered the Iranian Nuclear Scientist.
helenS · 36-40, F
@RodionRomanovitch True. What happened once can happen again.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Human1000 Yeah, I'm not sure the US is in any "deal-making" position right now. It might be best at working back toward being a country with integrity and accountability.
helenS · 36-40, F
@Graylight Your friends are waiting patiently. 🇪🇺
What makes you think Iran will want the US involved after this year?
@SirenCalledLuce If you're addressing my initial post, I asked because from much of what has been said by the Biden camp, it appears they want to return to the deal. That's why I asked.
Quetzalcoatlus · 46-50, M
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer..
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Quetzalcoatlus Helps to dump billions off at the airport, too
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
At this point, Iran doesn't trust the U.S. anymore, and they have many reasons not to. It is time for Europe to stop being so spineless and act independently.
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
@helenS Why? Trump just showed everyone that you couldn't rely on the U.S.
There is just so much instability. It took years to make that deal with Iran, and it took only one idiot to piss on everything. As long as the U.S. let any idiot become the number one man in the country, you cannot be optimistic.
helenS · 36-40, F
@LookingForTheSummer Europe is weakened by nationalist movements in many countries. The Free Republic of Europe, at the moment, is only a pipe dream. Unfortunately. 😐
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
@helenS Unfortunately, that's true.
acpguy · C
Very, very bad.
NoahB · 26-30, M
its probably not possible anymore
Mikemcneil · 61-69, M
@NoahB other countries are maintaining the deal.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@Mikemcneil yeah but they didnt assasinate irans general with a drone
Nobody00 · F
Iran will probably kick our ass
gregloa · 61-69, M
Of course not
