If the U.S. returns to the Nuclear deal with Iran...

Do you think returning to the Nuclear deal with Iran by a Biden Administration will be a good move or not?

I believe that only a big change in Iran can really improve things, so we (= the West) will have to create conditions where changes are more likely to occur. We have to support progressive forces in Iran, and the cancellation of the nuclear deal by the US was a step in the wrong direction.

@helenS The best thing to do is more sanctions on Iran until the people purge the existing government then go in and try to work with Iran on improving their economy and removal of any nuclear weapon tech.

@acpguy Sanctions will not lead to a revolution in Iran, unfortunately.

@acpguy Last year, thousands of Iranian people who were protesting against the government got shot in the streets. What did the U.S. do? Nothing. They don't actually want to get rid of the Islamic Republic.

@sunsporter1649 This doesn't prove anything. Yes, they hit sometimes but not hard enough.
If the U.S. really wanted the Islamic Republic gone, they would have been gone by now. Just like Saddam or the last king of Iran.

Why would they want to get rid of the Islamic Republic anyway? Because of Iran, many countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Israel, Jordan, Bahrain, and Qatar spend billions of dollars buying arms from the U.S.
Without the Islamic Republic's existence, who would buy weapons and make the U.S. this huge profit?

@LookingForTheSummer You prefer they buy them from the chicoms?
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
@sunsporter1649 I don't prefer anything. I am just stating a fact. The U.S. makes lots of money in the Middle East, thanks to the Islamic Republic. Therefore, the Islamic Republic's existence is beneficial for the U.S.
For now, at least.

@LookingForTheSummer You prefer they buy them from the chicoms, or the ruskies?
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
@sunsporter1649 It is not about that. You are not getting the point here. Leave it.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@LookingForTheSummer The point is?

@helenS
the cancellation of the nuclear deal by the US was a step in the wrong direction.
not giving them money to build a nuclear weapons program that they promised not to pursue is a step in wrong direction?

helenS · 36-40, F
@wildbill83 That picture is only appropriate – sometimes we have to bite into a sour apple, so to speak. Nobody is under any illusions about the character of the Iranian autocracy. There are millions of people in Iran who hate the regime, and the question is: how can we help them? Sanctions will lead to closing ranks around the horrible regime.
@helenS we=(the west) has never really cared for the Iranian people. It is evident in the history, Iran was used a means to get and protect from each, Russia, British Empire and French's, they all used it.

The discovery of oil made Iran a strategic location for Britten, especially during WW1 and WW2. They did not and still do not give a shit about the Iranian people. As long as they get cheap oil and gas and are able to sell their products back to Iran to keep their factories running.

We (the west) are truly selfish and opportunist capitalist's. We are engaged in dirty games and politics, divide and rule. Who the fuck are we dictate, we are the biggest hypocrites. We shake hands and get in bed with most ruthless dictators when its comes to support jobs and politics at home while preaching for democracy. It is nothing but a pile of horse shit.
