Have you seen how fundamentalist "muslims" treat christians in Syria?

Turns out that being a religious fundamentalist is bad no matter what the religion is.

Lesson learned.
@Pikachu Absolutely correct...any religious fundamentalists, no matter the religion, are overwhelmingly characterised by having narcissistic and sociopathic tendencies...

...these are the people who have a completely "legalistic" and "punitive" understanding of their faith and have completely no connection with the fundamentals of compassion, mercy and love that were the foundations of their religion to start with...

...that is because, like all other narcissists and sociopaths, all that these individuals are really interested in is wielding power over other people...

...and religious institutions are the perfect vehicle for them to rise up in the ranks and have the opportunity to force themselves onto others and satisfy their inner desires to abuse people and feel powerful..

...I despise these kinds of people and everything they stand for...they are pitiful examples of spirituality and humanity!

Exactly. They're not interested in spreading the good word, they're interested in punishing the people who won't hear it.
@Pikachu Absolutely! 👍

...which brings about a paradox in itself...

...being loving and compassionate to these deranged people only makes them bolder because they think you are weak...

...but dealing with them in a punitive manner puts you at risk of becoming just like the monster yourself...

Majority oppress minority in places where the system allows it.

It's a complicated situation. The Assad family has been in power in Syria for 52 years. They monopolized power, in the hands of their minority religious sect (Alawite) and took the Christians and Druze under their protection, essentially keeping the bulk of wealth, and creating a majority of uneducated, and incredibly poor Sunni majority.

The latter gave birth to ISIS. ISIS destroyed all the Christian monuments they can get their hands on, and in turn, Assad has been massacring the living crap out of all the Sunnis in Syria, fundamental or not.

We, Americans, under Trump, have no clue what we're doing there, but we support Turkey, whose goal is to destroy the Kurds of Syria.

With Assad Christians are respected. Those who are friends of Assad are friends of Christianity, and those who oppose him are enemies.
@Cierzo I agree/ Asaad was always fair with Christians in Syria. I'm not exactly sure what's going on there.
SW-User
think maybe how Christians treated the Muslims in the past might have something to do with that?

@BigGuy2 How very Christian of you. Someone treats you badly, treat them just as bad. To hell with Jesus and that turn the other cheek crap.
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
@SW-User ... so, let’s get this straight, I would suggest the Pope at the time - Urban II - would initially have said to the Muslims “....please stop killing Christians...” what do YOU think their reply would have been 🤔 ... are you saying that after their reply, Urban left it at that and said “...OK, I tried, I’ll finish off my coffee now and leave you lot to rape, murder and turn Christians into slaves ...”

🤔 ... hard one to answer

@SW-User Do you not understand the Golden Rule? It isn't that difficult.
Back in the day they were treated quite well by Asaad. They really were!
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
Yeah...which is why many have left
NickiHijab · F
@HoraceGreenley I think the constant bombing from American, Russian, French and the Syrian government may be a better indication of why so many left.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@NickiHijab I'm talking about decades ago
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
@NickiHijab ... so what came 1st, ‘the chicken or the egg’ - did the bombings start 1st, or did they start in reaction to what was happening

You only care about the Christians?
Northwest · M
@Human1000 Druze, Kurds...
Human1000 · M
@Northwest or the “wrong” kind of Muslim..
