After Trump has ruined the USA politically and economically.. whats the best way to rebuild ?

Abstraction · 61-69, M
USA has to get control of the flood of conspiracies and hate in social media, beginning with the foreign interference from Russia, China and others.

Like the bots...
"In 2017, the Federal Communications Commission had an online public-commenting period for its plans to repeal net neutrality. A staggering 22 million comments were received. Many of them—maybe half—were fake, using stolen identities. These comments were also crude; 1.3 million were generated from the same template, with some words altered to make them appear unique. They didn’t stand up to even cursory scrutiny."

People believe this patent nonsense because too many are tribal - if it puts my party ahead it's true. Easily manipulated.

USA - a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. Even just SW provides all the evidence you need that it's a nation in very deep trouble.

Those fake comments were in support of the Trump administration's push to eliminate net neutrality.

This too shall pass, eventually all great civilizations seem to fail, the Incas, the Aztecs, the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Romans, Mongols, the Ottoman empire all fell due to their own hubris and inability to stop it or to war, famine, disease or natural disaster. Humankind is an imperfect creature and makes mistakes. It appears to be the natural order of things for this to happen and eventually America too will be replaced by someone bigger or more powerful and the USA will be relegated to the sands of time...

@swirlie So your point may well be accurate for the ice that is submerged below the water as in an ice cube in a glass, but what of the significant mass of ice that isn't submerged? Which is why my mention of land mass of the USA included the mountains, ie above sea level. So if you were to take a dozen ice cubes stuck together and stacked on top of each other both in the glass and above the water, the submerged volume would be the same but when all the the ice cubes melt, the glass WILL overflow...

We have to fix the machinery of US politics. Trump is not the cause of our problems, but he is a symptom of it. We have a government that does not work for the people, and Trump took that sentiment and rode it all the way to the White House.

Democracy reform is necessary to root out the rot from US politics and hopefully have a governing body that actually is able to govern. We need a broad set of fixes to let go of our tribal bickering and focus on the bigger pictures. Things like congressional term limits, ranked choice voting, media accountability, ending practices like gerrymandering and voter suppression, people-funded political campaigns, and getting better at identifying bots and trolls that use propaganda to sow division and doubt into the political process.

There's a lot going on that is and has been undermining people's faith in politics, and if we can't trust the people in charge, that's a recipe for revolution

.....Could outsource all telephone and E-mail services to Russia ? 🤷‍♂️

Don't know which is more insulting to the intelligence. Political parties desperate to blame 'outside interference' for their own stupidity or the very idea they think we're dumb enough to buy the crap they're selling.
Human1000 · 51-55, M
@Picklebobble2 What you are doing, maintaining an opinion despite information to the contrary, is depressing. It’s all too common. An unproven issue they are proving. No need to be gaslit anymore. Have a good day.

@Picklebobble2 Sums it up Sir! 👍
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Human1000 The first paragraph of this 'report' tells you all you need to know !

Intelligence officials have reportedly found
- No mention of WHICH intelligence organization.
The reports haven't revealed details about WHAT actions Russia is taking, or their scope. But my analysis of social media activity exposes some examples

And that's just the first paragraph !

Beware 'information' and who is trying to sell it !

Pick any country across the globe, fascists who are chasing the stupid dream of ruling the world are governing nations. Concept of authoritative governments is literally choking people. Gradually we are approaching the the point where people would retaliate and that would cause mayhem.

We have the worst Prime Minister ever! 🤬

Filthy rich and their puppets (i.e. the corrupt officials and private militia) would use immense power to dominate the the working class i.e lower and middle class of the society. Working class would prefer die trying than bowing to the rich fascists.

What a peaceful world we humans have created for us! Yet, we all light candles and pray for global peace! 😔

It's already been sorted out by the Russian government, he gets another 4 years and that will make that previous 4 look positively brilliant.

Ruined or repaired? Middle East peace deals without firing a shot. Ending endless wars and bringing home the soldiers. Creating the hottest economy the US has experienced since WWII if not before.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
If only it were that simple....... First, the consequences of every administration since Reagan have done will need to be atoned for, because they they have left the US in a worse state than Greece econominally. THEN you have to add all the treaties and diplomatic relationships Trump ruined. So you have a generational problem here. This is going to take decades, even assuming you can take the power out of the hands of those who hold it now, who have America at war with itself.
If you want a comparison, they have the steerage passengers on the Titanic fighting over the Buffet while the first class people get their luggage onto the lifeboats.
So really, in the end I am afraid its going to come down to new ownership imposing their rules..It comes down to whether they will do it the slow economic way, just by buying everything of value they need to control the money and industry, or the quick noisy, messy way. History favours the first path at this time.😷

@swirlie Again, as an observer of Americans abroad I have to agree. Which I confess did surprise me when I visited and observed them in their own environment as polite. and with a generous spirit. I concluded that at home they are just different people. (Alternatively, they only allow the @$$holes out of the country)
My personal view is that Americans are really feeling the pressure at home now, which may even be the reason for Trump. And what we are seeing is them putting up a loud and futile resistance to the fall from grace of America as a superpower. The irony being that the harder they beat the dead horse of the economy and the lower they blow the horns of the military, the worse position they are going to else up in at the end.😷

Ask again when and if it happens

After? That's past tense. What we do is elect Biden and go with the Democratic party's infrastructure, healthcare and education programs.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Northwest As good as the ideas are, there will be no money to fund them. The best option (and I am not even sure its legal) is to roll out those programs state by state.😷
Northwest · M
@whowasthatmaskedman
there will be no money to fund them.

This is not only about money, it's about refocusing the efforts on a new infrastructure push. Money will have to materialize to keep people employed and the economy moving.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Northwest I agree thats the principle of Keynsian Economics. And a great idea. The flaw is that America has spent over a decade printing money backed by nothing and 4 years burning bridges and turning friends into enemies. Until now thats just business.. But this pandemic is global and every other economy is going to be suffering and want theit IOUs paid, rather than to keep lending. If Trump does manage to get elected you will see a number of nations by pass America as a customer until they arrange payment, and/or agree to pay in something other than paper dollars. Then Americas plan B is the biggest yard sale the world has ever seen.😷

railfan1984 · 36-40, M
whatever you thoughts or feelings are about the President the answer sure isn't Joe Biden
Human1000 · 51-55, M
@railfan1984 given the choice, I have to disagree. I don’t think his policies are bad, and at least he doesn’t attack his own countrymen and democratic allies. Also the climate denial stuff is really harmful.

What do you mean? He made the economy better than it's ever been when he took office. A virua ruined the economy and that's because of the lockdown. That's not his fault. That's China's fault. Come on, now. Let's do some research here before saying something stupid.

@JAYS21 Both too cult-ish from what I've seen.
Round up all Trump followers and hang them alongside Trump and his entire family
