If only it were that simple....... First, the consequences of every administration since Reagan have done will need to be atoned for, because they they have left the US in a worse state than Greece econominally. THEN you have to add all the treaties and diplomatic relationships Trump ruined. So you have a generational problem here. This is going to take decades, even assuming you can take the power out of the hands of those who hold it now, who have America at war with itself.
If you want a comparison, they have the steerage passengers on the Titanic fighting over the Buffet while the first class people get their luggage onto the lifeboats.
So really, in the end I am afraid its going to come down to new ownership imposing their rules..It comes down to whether they will do it the slow economic way, just by buying everything of value they need to control the money and industry, or the quick noisy, messy way. History favours the first path at this time.😷

@swirlie And I thought I was a pessimist. I agree with you of course.. However, "the new owners" may keep America the brand afloat as a figurehead or a theme park for tourists, to bring in the Capitalist buck, while keeping their own people isolated from the worst of its influence. They do play a long game.😷

@swirlie Again, as an observer of Americans abroad I have to agree. Which I confess did surprise me when I visited and observed them in their own environment as polite. and with a generous spirit. I concluded that at home they are just different people. (Alternatively, they only allow the @$$holes out of the country)
My personal view is that Americans are really feeling the pressure at home now, which may even be the reason for Trump. And what we are seeing is them putting up a loud and futile resistance to the fall from grace of America as a superpower. The irony being that the harder they beat the dead horse of the economy and the lower they blow the horns of the military, the worse position they are going to else up in at the end.😷
