Riddle me this. Why is saying China Virus racist yet Spanish Flu is not?

SW-User
Because a proven racist (Donald Trump) coined the term.

Why is saying China Virus racist yet Spanish Flu is not?

Cuz trump didn't say 'Spanish Flu'.

It's no big deal.
I was informed that I am racist simply cuz I'm white!
Apparently, racist doesn't have the same meaning it once had.
Like, there used to be only two genders, now I hear there are 57!
[Maybe Heinz is in the gender business now.]

It's so fucking stupid.
Life for leftys must be way too easy.
They keep coming up with stupid crap like this.

I think the only reason Biden is running for president
is that he is the only one sufficiently unaware of reality.

@SW-User Conveniently leaves out Harris Faulkner, one of Fox's top news people.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@justaguy11 And Candace Owens and even a democrat Donna Brazile. Is Stacey Dash still there or has the left canceled her?

It takes courage for anyone to work at FOX. But especially anyone of color. The left tears 'em up!

China isn't a race hombre. I think it's due to the fact that being bigoted and narrow minded was cool in the early 1900's. Renaming it now is a little silly, a hundred years after the fact.
NoahB · 31-35, M
its not its just stupid but conservatives want to pretend they're being accused of racism for it because they love strawmen

Yup

Well, One:
Spain was one of only a few major European countries to remain neutral during World War I. Unlike in the Allied and Central Powers nations, where wartime censors suppressed news of the flu to avoid affecting morale, the Spanish media was free to report on it in gory detail. News of the sickness first made headlines in Madrid in late-May 1918, and coverage only increased after the Spanish King Alfonso XIII came down with a nasty case a week later. Since nations undergoing a media blackout could only read in depth accounts from Spanish news sources, they naturally assumed that the country was the pandemic’s ground zero. The Spanish, meanwhile, believed the virus had spread to them from France, so they took to calling it the “French Flu.”

Two, humans evolve. When we learn better, we do better. To ask why it's not okay to act the same way we did 100 years ago is to ask why we can't throw crying tantrums like a child in the store anymore.
The Spanish flu wasn't even from Spain and it was actually known as the French flu for those in Spain. I guess people just wanted a country to blame. Kinda like they do now.

Congratutions !

You're the second Trumpturd to ask this question today.
LegendofPeza · 56-60, M
@Budwick Is the answer that Trump wanted to deflect , laid a trap , and the democrats walked straight into it ?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@LegendofPeza No.
Wait - What?
No.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@LegendofPeza You mean it didn't come from china?
Because we have scientific naming conventions now. By today's standards calling it the Spanish flu is just as bad as calling it the China virus. But people like you got their way and the term Spanish flu stuck in tradition. Now it is happening again and instead of going with the scientific and neutral term you want it to be racially charged for scapegoating purposes because humans always want to blame someone when something bad happens. After all if you can demonize a people you can attack them. But it's harder to demonize and attack nature cause it is alot bigger than you. Humans are cowards and pick the fights they think they win.

Spanish flu is a misnomer. Calling Corona as Chinese virus is a political attack. Not racist certainly. It also got more attention as Trump spoke it publicly.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@SW-User LoL, as if the chinks give a damn what we call it
Riddle Me This: Has China apologized to the world yet? Over a million dead because of their fuck up and nary a word. And since reparations is such a hot topic, is the CCP going to be paying up for everyone’s losses? Quite frankly I think the 10’s or 100’s of millions who are grieving lost ones or are without a job could give a flying fuck if you call it Kung Flu. They will never regain what they have lost.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
I don't think it's racist so much as just stupid.
Julien · 36-40, M
Because the Spanish glue started in the us 🇺🇸
