it's a huge middle finger for his haters or "enemies" as he'd probably call them. Wanting to remove him from office yet pocketing the check without hesitation
His checks are the best checks the check out checkers check his checks cuz theyre the best checks and his name is the best name so the best name on the best check checked by the best check checkers
True Story: Trump visited George Washington's home in Mount Vernon, Virginia. During the tour, he said if it was him, he would have put his name on the building, because that is the way people remember you.
The curator escorting him around the properly discreetly mentioned that Washington had his name on the nation's capital. He could have added and on an entire state.
He is having his name put on the check for one reason only, to make people who get the checks feel beholden to him and presumably more likely to vote for him. This is a classic dictator stunt.
Time will tell if it helps him at the voting booth, but I think it is more is likely to backfire, because it will remind people once again that he thinks everything is all about him.

Like stubborn pet stains, it might take a little scrubbing after he is gone, but it can be done.
@Peapod Very insightful analogy. In my more optimistic moments, I tell myself that this period (not the pandemic but the current administration) is the last gasp of the not so good part of the good old days.
It's his denial about knowing anything about it and then going into details about how it isn't taking any extra time to code and reassuring himself that people are going to love seeing his name on their "fat checks" that cements his douche-bag status.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I live here I'm quite sure I know more about my country than you do! Thanks anyway but your misinformation on America is not needed at this time
@TexChik He has left an incredibly weak chain of command which was evident when the acting secretary of the Navy spent $250k to fly to Guam to exclaim to the sailors of the USS Roosevelt how butthurt he was that the sailors cheered their Captain.
Yeah - it is fake news. I understand it was considered, but way too costly, not Trump's style. Besides, most of the money was sent electronically - no signatures at all.
In a blatantly and pathetically narcissistic move, he will have his name appear in the "memo" line of the check. You know, just to remind people what a benevolent emperor he is to give us our money. Thing is, he's not an authorized signer for the Treasury, so it won't even appear in the signature line. What it will do is most likely delay the payments.

Mine was direct deposited so no check to confirm that 🤷🏻♂️
There's an old expression: Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If anyone does not want it because his name is on it, let me know, I'll be glad to take it off your hands. And remember kids (again) this is your money-taxes paid-that is being handed out. It's a loan to yourself...I'm gonna keep saying it..your going to have to pay it back someday. Spend it wisely.
@luctoretemergo The biggest budget deficit in history was $1.413 trillion during 2009 as the Bush/Republican Great Recession deepened. Trump's budget deficit this year will be well over $3 trillion, perhaps as much as $4 trillion. Yes, this will have to be paid back, with interest, but as Trump has famously said "Why should I give a fuck about that? I won't be president any more."
He wanted his name to be on the signature line. But when he was informed that this is illegal, he compromised by insisting that his name goes on the Memo line.
What’s sad about this is that he doesn’t seem to grasp that this isn’t HIS stimulus money.
What’s even more sad is that many citizens also don’t see the distinction
It is always smart politics to be seen as the giver of gifts. I may dislike Trump, but it seems like a smart move to me in an election year. as is his appearance in a daily press conference. keeps his name in the news every day. drives me nuts, but its smart politics.
Trump's name will be printed on stimulus checks. For those who aren't getting paid by electronic transfer, the current estimate is that the checks will go out at the end of April.
It is unclear, and currently disputed, whether putting Trump's name on the checks will delay them getting to recipients. A report said yes, but when National Public Radio call the IRS to ask, they were told no.
@Oster1 I really hate the term "Fake News" which was coined by the President to create confusion about the reporting of news stories that are unflattering to him or with which disagrees. But as far as this particular story, nothing is fake. Either the original report is correct or it is not and either the IRS is giving out information about delay or it is not. Time will tell.
Fake news, false news, news that’s not true, news that is half true, propaganda news, as Hillary would say, “what difference, does it make”? I’m just a researcher. I have no dog, in this fight. I will not be getting a check. I have other options. The IRS has nothing to do with the administration of the relief. It’s from the Department of the Treasury! I agree and am confident with one thing, time will tell and we shall see.☺️@PowerofStories
@erosme Let's not forget the hardest working, most successful in the history of the country!

Lol very real. He can’t sign treasury checks but still wants his name featured on it. So he gets the memo line of the check. It will be the best and greatest memo line of a treasury check ever.
Nope. It will be a facsimile of his name. He'll write it once and then they will make copies of it. Can you imagine if he wrote them all by hand. It would take him years to do. So fake news:3
@canusernamebemyusername It says printed not personally signed so it is accurate. Nobody is dumb enough to believe he would sign them personally. It is about brand recognition for him. The fact that is where his head is at should be alarming.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I was just putting a spin on it. Cause some people actually believe he will sign them personally:( I have even heard one person believe he is going to personally hand them out. WTF
Why couldn't he have given the taxpayers some checks directly just to alleviate some pain?
He. Did.
Who is to say a President Clinton would have done the same thing Trump is doing, in allowing and signing the bill or whatever legislation that allows for the dispersal of these checks?
Anyone with a functioning brain.
Maybe a different president other than Trump would have never okayed the checks.
And maybe they'd have a bowl of glass shards for breakfast every morning.
@GeistInTheMachine Dude that shit passed both the House and the Senate unanimously. Congress would have overturned any veto with ease.
There were individual stimulus checks and lots of stimulus spending under both Bush and Obama, and lots of other measures to help individuals in the Great Recession. And in many ways that crisis was less extreme than what we are looking at right now.
Hmm, "people" (and I use the term loosely here) were losing their shit over Obamaphones (which, of course, were actually Bushphones, but whatever) as being handouts and "free stuff" and "buying votes", etc. etc.
I wonder what those "people" think about Trumpchecks? 🤔
WASHINGTON — President Trump’s name will appear on the economic stimulus checks that will be mailed to millions of Americans in the coming weeks, the Treasury Department confirmed on Tuesday.
The decision to have Mr. Trump’s name on the checks, a break in protocol, was made by the Treasury Department after Mr. Trump suggested the idea to Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury secretary, according to a department official.
The president’s name will appear in the “memo” section of the check because Mr. Trump is not legally authorized to sign such disbursements.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I am not his waterboy - I call them as I see them. He did nothing wrong its just the legality of it - a President can not sign checks no matter how much he wants it - it aint gonna happen... Now if he writes me a personal check he can sign his heart away......
@Mentor4females It's been called Obamacare since 2010 Trump named it that? Get a clue pal! It exists still because the demrats did nothing but bullshit scams for 3 years instead of fixing it like they promised!
Yeah, and the only reason he is doing it is to piss people off that don't like him. That's the kind of child he is but at the sametime he gets the reaction he wants.
