Once or twice he was known to lie. National Socialism is just possibly Socialism, you know with universal old age pension, universal employment, absolute gun control, free college education and healthcare.@QuixoticSoul
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@redredred Aside from the rather bizarre assertion about absolute gun control, you described a welfare state, not a socialist one.

It's not that Hitler is especially lying when he makes contradictory statements on economy. That was his whole approach - "The basic feature of our economic theory is that we have no theory at all".

So it's more productive to look at what Nazi Germany actually did, rather than what Hitler said - and the economy they created was not at all socialist in nature.

@DonaldTrumpet You mean you don't know what I mean by that? Look at the groups I'm in, that should give you a clue.

Nah. I want saner capitalism myself.

Socialism is a system where the state owns or completely manages all means of production, factories, farms, mines, fisheries, forests etc. Banks become essentially credit unions and there is no stock market since there are no private companies. If you like the idea of every store, hospital or commercial enterprise being just like the Motor Vehical Department or the IRS, socialism is just the ticket for you.

I would like to see a strong social safety net.
P.S. Don't be confused over the next few years, the republicans, and as a matter of public record, have agreed to associate anything coming out of the democrats is going to be called socialism or compared to socialism. Its just a to hey the vote of people to lazy to read the paper.(I'm not talking the national inquirer)

@GoodCatholicGirl I’m on a government healthcare plan it’s called Medicaid and it sucks
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@GoodCatholicGirl Post that question. You might get 10 completely different answers if not more.

Socialism has many definitions that allows people to argue without being specific.

Are you a troll?
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@JoeyFoxx How would you define Socialism?
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
I wouldn’t. Marx defines it. As he defined it, it’s impractical and unsustainable.

Socialism is used as an umbrella label today without being specific. Is Medicare Socialism? It’s a socialist policy possibly, but by itself, it’s not socialism.

Income taxes are a form of socialism. Folks who are traditionally against socialism support some form of income tax.

Getting into the debate of socialism or not is a fool’s errand.

@SimplyTracie
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
Aren’t we already? Someone on SW defined Medicare and medicaid and financial assistance as a form of socialism. Is that true or false?
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@Crazychick Didn't answer why you like socialism.
Crazychick · 36-40, F
@GunSmoke9 Because in my country it represents equality of the people.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@Crazychick Socialism is socialism no matter what country. How high are your taxes?
Tres13 · 51-55, M

Tres13 · 51-55, M

QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Tres13 I now what socialism is, thanks. You should probably review the basic concepts though, just so you understand the difference between socialism and welfare state.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
