This is all about politics in the US. I don't dare try to predict what will happen with Brexit.

Trump will continue his shutdown of the government while people suffer. Late in January he'll declare victory and get little or nothing in return. The wall will not be built, though he'll say it is, even though it will just be improving existing fencing.

Mueller will issue his report, which will contain solid evidence of multiple crimes by Trump's kids, and by Trump personally. Several of these crimes will be completely new to the public. The Democrats will impeach him in the House. A few Republican Senators will vote along with all Democrats for removal, but it won't be enough to remove him from office, leaving a proven liar and criminal in the White House.

Trump will pardon his children and other people mentioned in the Mueller report, claiming it is biased and partisan.

Additional charges will be brought against Trump by New York State, setting up a constitutional crisis as to whether a sitting president can be indicted in a State.

Almost nothing will get done administratively by Congress, as Trump will consume almost the entire bandwidth.

More cabinet members and aides will be fired and/or leave the White House in 2019 than in 2018 and 2017. This will pick up significantly after Mueller's report is issued.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SW-User Sadly, I think you may be right about that. He's so incompetent and capricious that his decision making in a real crisis could be catastrophic.
SW-User
Plus, his inexperience and incompetence could actually cause the initial crisis that could then be exacerbated by his inexperience and incompetence. A perfect circle. @windinhishair
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SW-User It most definitely could occur that way. Just look at the current shutdown--Trump had a deal earlier this year that he spurned which would have gotten him even more than he's asking for now. And that's just a national crisis of limited impact. It could be far worse in a real crisis.
SW-User
In the U.S., I expect more stalemates and gridlock as the great deal maker continues to flounder when it comes to bringing people of different minds together to strike deals, especially considering his inexplicably monumental struggles to make deals and stick to agreements when his party had control of both the House and Senate. I expect Democrats to spend more time and energy investigating the president than on actual policy now that they’ll have subpoena power. I expect multiple partial shutdowns as posturing over immigration continues throughout the year while the great deal maker fails to make any deals on that front. I expect the Congress to continue abdicating its primary responsibilities while posturing and complaining that the courts and executive branches are overreaching by filling the void they’ve willingly created. In other words, I expect dysfunctional business as usual in my country.

@SW-User Thanks for the detailed reply. I hope you are wrong but fear that you are not.

windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SW-User 2019 will definitely be a year of dysfunction in both the Legislative and Executive Branches.

12-31-2019 President remains firmly ensconced in the White House with an approval rating north of 50%. CNN still whining in ineptitude.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@jackjjackson I know you made a prediction. I'm just curious how you came to that conclusion, considering the president has never been above 50%, has shown himself to be incapable of change, and has given no evidence in his first two years of actions that would warrant or result in an approval rating greater than 50%, let alone 45%.

The holidays have been fine. I hope yours have been too.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
After 2 years President Obama’s approval rating was 41%. I’m on a break from debating over the holidays 😀 thanks for the kind holiday greetings. @windinhishair
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@jackjjackson Actually, as of December 29 in their second years, Trump is at 41.4%, Obama was at 45.8%. Clinton was at 44.8%, and Carter was at 50.6%. The Bushes were both over 60% (Source: the 538 website).

Have a Happy New Year, and prepare yourself for 2019--the wildest ride yet!

I predict that Nancy Pelosi will say a LOT of stupid things.

I predict that Maxine Waters will do her best to try to wreck our economy, and I predict that someone...hopefully soon, will throw a Boston Creme pie in Adam Schiffs' face, just so they don't have to look at the sneaky smarminess.

I predict that at least three people will try to trip Chuck Shumer as he is walking down the halls, or will grease the floor in front of him, and I predict that all the really sneaky lying smarmy looking lawyer types in Washington, headed by Michael Avenatti, will form the Chuck Shumer fan club and try to be just like him, because they will want to learn how to lie through their teeth and looks sneaky and dishonest and still be successful.
SWMae · 26-30, F
@4meAndyou Interesting. What do you predict for trump?
4meAndyou · F
@SWMae The crystal ball is cloudy...😉
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
*Britain will make the hard Brexit they planned all along. (And the sky will not fall).
*Trump will lead the Republicans to an inglorious defeat in the next US election because the party cant grow a moral spine and move him on. They will immediately blame the Democrats for everything and Republican held states will obstruct at every turn. And Americas problems will not improve. (And the sky will not fall).
* Australia will change Governments in May , rebelling against the conservative Liberal party. (And the sky will not fall.)

Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SWMae I don't think he's a troll because he believes it. I saw a stay which said over 60% of Republican voters believe that Obama was not born in America. I don't think it's just SW that you get this.

I bet your friends will be mostly liberal. I would think Britain was really left wing based on my friends and Twitter but I know its not true.

@Burnley123 I promise, I am not a troll. But everything I posted can be documented. Her and Bill have made a pretty good living in politics. She is only popular because she was a major presidential candidate and she is popular with the Hollywood crowd and Main Stream Journalists. She and Bill are not nice people. Even her personal assistant Huma Abedin said she was afraid of her. There has to be an excellent reason why. I could go on and on.....but I'll stop.
curiosi · 61-69, F
Brexit will still be a huge thorn in the sides of many.

@curiosi Agree with that

Justine Trudope will lose to Andrew Scheer.

Finally, the Government of Canada will be run by Conservatives.
